In my opinion the specical effects were good (as usual) I even liked Yodas fight.

My problem was with the storyline and characterisations (plus acting, but maybe the acting is crap because the characterisations were crap).

There was a tension between the lead characters in eps 3-5 that is just not there in the first two. Perhaps its the myth related elements missing I don't know. In eps 3-5 Luke, Han and Leia are thrown together and the characters develop together. There is tension between Han and Leia, Leia and Luke, Han and Luke.
In AOTC there is little tension, and what there is isn't believable.
I think Anakin and Padme going off to Naboo was not productive to the storyline, it didn't work for me. All three should have gone in search of the mystery, not just Obi Wan, then there would have been the opportunity for character interaction and Anakin could have abandoned him friends at a crucial moment to go to tatooine in search of his mother (a similar situation to which his son is subject in ep 5 where Luke realises through the force that his friends are in danger on Bespin).

Instead we had a long meaningless set of scenes with Padme and Anakin where there is little or no plot and absolutely no tension (Padme at least could have been engaged to somebody else that might have provided some tension). it was more like...
    Anakin: 'Give'us a shag.'
    Padme: 'No.'
Anakin: 'Aw, go on, I really fancy you.'
    Padme: 'No.'
    Anakin: 'Please'.
    Padme: 'Mmmh, hmmm. No.'

I really enjoyed the end of the movie though, the battle was great. It didn't feel right that the Stormtroopers were fighting alongside the good guys though, that just felt plain wrong.

The 'per seat licensing' reference was either mis-interpreted and then blown out of all proportion until Suse had to come out and set the facts straight.

No GNU/Linux distro company could do a 'microsoft' on anybody. Its not possible. Everybody would wander off to debian or Slackware or non-participating distros and leave them on the dance-floor, on their own, during the slow set, looking very sad and lonely.

This is purely in order to go after Enterprise money. The hobby user, geek and techheads will get the benefits with (I think) is a modest outlay for a distro (I have never used the install support, but I do like the manuals and the Install DVD).
Plus we should all benefit if this brings more applications and support to the GNU/Linux Platform.

Caldera have been going with 'per-seat licensing' for a while now. I never investigated further as I don't use Caldera.

    However I do use Suse.
I'd guess the per-seat licensing is more to do with Service Contracts. Downloaded ISO's generally come with no support, this has been true for RH and Mandrake. Bought distros (like the Suse 8.0 Proffessional version I just recently acquired) come with limited installation support and after that - you're on your own.

Since the United Linux consortium are aiming squarely at Enterprise and commercial custom, they're talking about that sector of the market as it is more likely to be profitable. They are not really interested in the home user.
I'd guess more Corporations might take an interest in GNU/Linux if 'per-seat licensing' were in place as they'd have a support lifeline.
Businesses need to have a support agreement (even huge corporations with inhouse knowledge) no support contract or service agreement would leave them vulnerable to problems which might jeopardise continuity.

I'd seriously doubt they'd strangle the non-enterprise user, they'd have only small change to gain by forcing non-enterprise customers to pay non-seat and too much to loose as a lot of non-enterprise customers are the people who write most of their product.

I doubt very much GNU/LInux is the core product that brings their revenue. I'd guess their principle resource is the knowledge of their staff.
But then, that's true for any company.

That's all the Distro really should be, a collection of packages. The advantage GNU/Linux has over Windows is that you can change ALL packages (even the core of the OS).

It's up to the individual(or the corporation in Enterprise space) which distro they use. Most single Linux users will not be buying support packages beyond the free with the distro support (if they buy their distro rather than d/l an ISO).

The Distro Companies (RH, Suse et all) make their money from support. Any improvements in the distro software generally are in the areas of installation, configuration and some usability tools in order to actually reduce the amount of support they have to do to earn the money from their Service Level Agreements.

The inclusion of a standard Package management tool or process. The process in itself would ensure each distro adheres to the paths/library locations standard. It would also greatly assist in the usability of the GNU/Linux system.

I use Suse Linux personally (have done regularly since 7.0) as my home desktop. There's a lot I like about Suse.
Most reviews I've ever read rate it higher than Red Hat keeps me coming back.
The regular and relatively well priced releases mean I can depend on regular base upgrades in addition to the online updates.
Good KDE (my choice of default)and improving Gnome and other Window Manager support.

MY only gripe is the environment scripted setup, but I don't usually have too much of a problem with installation as long as I compile from Source.

While Yast2 et all are by no means perfect, the appliance of a standard among the allied distributions would be an ideal way of pooling resources and avoiding duplication of effort (very apt-get to the Open Source philosophy) and it would free up paid distro programmers to work on further enhancements (hint hint, the package management tool).
