Coming up after the break, we'll go in-depth into the wild PHPNuke cross-scripting 'sploit released today by bl4ckh4t l4bz and ask experts if it really matters to anyone at all...
70% of my shop, all servers, runs Fedora. Clusters, file servers, public dev boxes, you name it. Uptime and performance numbers are fantastic, across a wide range of hardware from the very latest going back to pre-2000. For projects using Oracle and other big titles where support is "required", we use RHEL and it's easy as can be to work with both in the same space.
We do local mirroring of base and update packages, and have kickstart configs for new installs. Fedora's been a terrific server OS for us.
Don't forget, the rules have changed. That was the answer for a while when all the pundits on CNBC had been scratching their heads wondering how the run-up could be real and long-term.
Well, would you rather have a guy who violated an NDA and got punished for it, or a guy who says he won't, but might and, because he's likely never been caught, assumes he'll just get away with it as he always has?
How difficult do you find it to make the initial installation build and then do the source compiling? I'm thinking about doing something similar in my shop.
I run a tight shop and when WebSphere doesn't play ball on a production server for some reason I need to know that, as a last resort, I can scream at someone. Preferrably both the app and os people.
I haven't needed phone support yet, but if I did, I could go that route. And the clients like that. If they like it, it's successful.
Yeah, even a RH guy like me giggled some over that.
RH does what I need, and I run customized versions of a whole lot of apps I could use RPMs for. When I don't need 'em custom, the RPMs are all right by me.
...Crypnotic also looked up the posting history of FerretFrottage to see if danila had looked up the posting history of FerretFrottage, and upon finding a link, very excitedly posted the parent as a rather advanced means of showing off. I'm not that impressed, but well done nonetheless.
Meanwhile, I'm the only one here who has not yet looked up the posting history of FerretFrottage, although it is apparently a popular thing to do...
I'm sure Hitler had a similar level of insight to yours. Oh wai--

Great show. I'm not sure how the reruns ended up on the Hallmark Channel (?) but Tivo found 'em. God bless you Tivo and your shiny metallic casing and little red light...
The Sun links to 108993-32 and 113476-11 (SPARC Sol. 8 and 9) seem to be 404ing... anyone have valid links to grab the patches over HTTP?

Dear Mr. Calling-Out-the-Karma-Whore,
It is traditional to not check the "Post Anonymously" box when calling out a karma whore and thus being "modded up" as Insightful, Funny, or, the jackpot, Underrated.

Oops... jumped the gun again. Damn those editors are good at getting me all hot and bothered...
I disagree.

Annually, and it's the same as WS (updates, packages, etc), just with no support.
Heh... Like other halls-of-fame, maybe someone has to nominate it?
The NT source code leak article is getting booted from the hall of fame right NOW!
Although my wife would likely disagree...
The sign on the door clearly states, "No Food or Drink". Of course, shirts are still optional.
Wow, that's it? I guess that price really did keep people away. The reviews have been gushing, so it can't be bad press.
If it were a little cheaper I'd already have it, but that 250 number just makes me wince a bit.

So IMing is "ghey" but you use it to chat with your girlfriend? I think my head just exploded.
Oh, no, I figured it out! You're a woman.

But are you really going to trust some links on slashdot?
Heh... well, when I mouse over the links, they look clean, and I'm not using IE, so they're probably okay......
But the answer is no, I suppose.

Or "Dash of Man"? CBS News won't air stories about it, though...
RIP Goatse. Didn't mean to rub salt in the wound.
When he looks puzzled trying to understand what "Goatse" is, give the interviewer the URL so he can see for himself.
