  1. Re:They Can Keep Battling it Out on No Ceasefire in DVD Format Battle · · Score: 1

As of now hard drives life sucks horribly. At least my DVD's don't crash and take all the data with them like my last 3 Fujitsu, last 2 Western Digital, and last 4 Seagate drives.

You mean like how the DVDs scratch? Or the foil surface on the back starts peeling off?

If you're eating that many hard disks, you might want to invest in a better power supply and a few fans in strategic places.

-1 Bad Analogy Try comparing adding a one-second delay to something you do less frequently than push down a key on your keyboard. I don't know about you, but I don't turn on the lights 2400+ times an hour. Hell, even the (non-compact) fluorescent bulbs in the ceiling of the office in which I am sitting take about a second to turn on. But you don't hear me bitching about it. (At least they're not the ones that throw the harsh orange light that gives me a headache).

There are some movies I considered "must be seen" like the LOTR sequels, but besides Episode III whre some ppl said it would be "good" I did not see many movies during the last years.

Actually, I went to see Ep3 in theatres, based on positive reviews that came from several friends who downloaded pirated pre-releases.

What did I get in return for my $10? Well, some of the movie was worthwhile (yoda kicks ass) but the majority of the movie was *crap*.

Had it been a better movie (like, say, the original movies) people may have seen it several times. As it is, only the blind fanatic fanbois went to see it more than once.

Right now I'm typing this on a laptop that dual-boots XP and linux. The raw XP install takes up a gig. And what utilities does that give you? notepad, and...um... regedit.... and scandisk.

a barebones install of ubuntu consumes less than 100 megs of space, and lets you put a whole lot more utilities in the rest of that 900 megs.
