Brazilian/.ers correct me if I am wrong. But Ive noticed that most of brazilian banks (at least Itau, BB, Banespa) already run some version of Windows (2000, 98, 95) on their ATMs.
Last month when I went to an ATM to get some cash (Itau), Ive got a popup about a service failure, and I could press a button on screen to reboot the machine. I could see a PIII rebooting and Windows 2000 loading.
About two years ago a weirder thing happended I went to Banespa Bank (which machines used to have complete keyboards like normal computers) and as I inserted my ATM card the program crashed, giving me access to a DOS prompt!!! I could browse some directories, but didnt risk to load any program...
Now I wonder: "These are the guys that are suposed to take care of my money in security. Sure...)
SCO: Youve called SCO all our lawyers are busy at the momement. If you want to sue us please wait on the line. If we are currently sueing you please press 6. If you want to give us you money please press 7.
What exactly the CC does, that hinders the country growth?
I am a MSc in CompSci, not a sociologist but I am a Brazilian and I can explain it pretty clear. Catholic Church as Islam or any intrusive religion creates societies with weird mindsets that accepts reality (corruption, power abuse, etc) as something natural. Acording to CC we should always forgieve. This idea has influenced our laws during many years/centuries and our country reflects nowadays such crazieness. While people do not have education and are unable to free their mind the situation will persist and we should get used to live in this terrible situation with few resources and chances to make a change.
So now 90% of the current Brazilian tech support people won't be needed. As well as 100% of the programmers
I quite didnt get it. I am a brazillian programmer who writes solutions for *nix in Java. I thought that even not using M$ products I still had lots of work to do. Now theres no M$, and solutions must be open....
What follows isn't legal advice: firms must make their own decisions based upon an assessment of their particular situations through consultation with their own counsel. But I would like to suggest some of the questions that clients and lawyers may want to ask themselves in determining their response to SCO's licensing demands.
I was just wondering: since SCO is dying and, they are probabily cheap now, what if some other evil corp (let's say M$) decides to buy them? Oh wait a minute they just started doing that.
I think this is old news. Press realease dates from June/2000 . Slashdot also has a story about it Hey, but thanks to CmdrTaco its currently new news again according to Google. . You never know when dups come to hunt you...

Among other misrepresentations, SCO convinced Ren that SCO owned the root of the entire UNIX tree, and that Linux was just one branch of that tree.
And SCO said to Ren:
- All the base are belong to us

Sorry, but Brazil I think Brazil is much bigger than Microsoft despite our tragic currency devaluation.

Not even this. From the article:
What follows isn't legal advice: firms must make their own decisions based upon an assessment of their particular situations through consultation with their own counsel. But I would like to suggest some of the questions that clients and lawyers may want to ask themselves in determining their response to SCO's licensing demands.
The truth is M$ is envy of SCO's claims
Maybe you should try those ones. Weve been using those in Brazil for almost a a decade. Software code can be evaluated by independent institutions, and as far as I know it does not run Win32. Last elections the whole country used voting machines (no manual votes) And weve got the result (>100,000,000 in few hours).
I was just wondering: since SCO is dying and, they are probabily cheap now, what if some other evil corp (let's say M$) decides to buy them? Oh wait a minute they just started doing that.
