    I'm sorry but why does the US feal it has to deter terrorist acts in Litchenstine.

    It's that we are the police men of the world attitude that got them into this mess in the first place.

    You would have thaught that the US could have learnt from its own history. Perticualy the war of Independence, during which a bunch of US terrorists attacked the ruling UK garrisons.

    Oh dam! I forgot they won, so they must have been patriotic freedom fighters and not terriosts after all.

    As a side note. Why is the allience supporting the Northen Alience in Afganastan. Wasn't these the people we origanaly supported the Taliban against.

    This remineds me a bit like what happens with Perl.

    I origanally downloaded Perl for free. I used it for a couple of years.

    Eventualy I baught the Camel 2nd Edish. I now own The 3rd Ediish of the Camel, the Lepord, the Wolf and the Emu.

    I would NEVER had baught ANY of these boks if I had not first downloaded Perl.

    I doubt he has enough. Part of being an egomaniac is the need to always be right. A change of course at Microsoft like the one that IBM made would amount to saying, "We're wrong about how we should have done this." That's an admission that I don't think Gates is capable of making.

    I think you are very wrong about this. It wasn't that long ago that BillyG and MS where writing off the internet as irrelivent.

    Now take a look at what they are up to.

    I use Opera on my linux box. Any problems and I get it to impersonate MSIE 5.0

    You then get the same problems as they have with space elevators.

    Actually since I got my new job I've managed to convert all but one of my workmates in my office to convert from Windose to Linux.

    And last Monday she turned up with a large Unix Reference book, so there's hpe for her too

    How about ristricting patants to an individual or group of individules and making them none transferable except by a will

    Next you place a time limit of the life of the patent owner(s) + 10 years

    This woud stop buisnessis owning patants and allow the origanal inventor(s) and their famillies to benifit from their work.

    Next a licence to use the patent can only be granted if all serviving holders of the patent aggree.

    Note there is nothing stopping a business from ensuring they are automatically granted an exclucive licence to use a patent from members of their recearch group by writing this into the employment terms and condittions.

    However as soon as one of the patent holders leaves that company's employment they can veto the licence.
