Self-configuration. New machines, network links, and resources should be automatically assimilated.
my ass ill hand my machine over to them, what, so they can abuse my spare computer cycles for compiling their crap? THE WORLD IS NOT YOURS, NEVER WILL BE...go away MS, just go away.
i have insurance for fucking over other peoples cars...maybe its time that homeowners or business puts in a technology clause...there are a lot of damages that aren't getting accounted for here, when we know right where they are coming from.
As for your GM analogy, If you dont fix the breaks GM isnt going to come out, tow your car, fix it, and put it back...and that seems to me what a lot of these morons are looking for. Considering the vast majority of homeusers are going to be ripping them off, I dont imagine MS is too kind hearted about distributing patches. If it was me...Id require a serial number for reaching the updates page...(i know that wont stop the vast majority, but they have a right to protect that). If they could actually bill for some of their products, they might be able to hire just a few more people to do bug testing, or decent code, or whatever...Not that Billy Boy needs any money, he should throw half his wealth back into the pool just for bug testers...
see, but thats smart, the average user has NO IDEA about port mapping, they just throw it together and cross their fingers. You and I know about that, and maybe the 10 other people who ACTUALLY PATCHED IIS, but that's it. I say more power to em.
funny, moron, dont remember him saying anything about LinUx. It's always about the penguin...
The problem with "tech savvy" politicians is that democracy runs much slower than tech developement, you see this with the MS case, and you see this with the way they handled tips the terrorist attacks were going to happen. You also should be AMAZED that they are taking action against people withing 2 weeks of the attack. Thats lightning fast for democracy.
Im not complaining, its still better than a lot of alternatives...
wow, you sound like my brother... are you adopted?! Beowulfs in lieu of paintball, and in charge of pumping up the nerds...like looking into a nerd-mirror.
the sad thing is, brah, that it never was that busy in the hospitable. Doctors kept waiting for patients, and after the initial flow no one came...no ones been rescued in days. Truly sad.
i would think that just as england was not the right place for solar-powered street meters, a tornado prone place, like say, oklahoma, would not be the place for buildings like this. I think somewhere like Chi-Town or New York would easily benefit from this, given their storm likliehoods...
its a cool idea, but if you get enough of these in a building like, say, Chicago and you are going to dramatically reduce the amount of airflow through that city. We already know how awful that city can smell at times, imagine how bad it gets with no circulation. Don't forget the heat.
they are worried about licensing right now? I can just see Billy boy wanderin' down with the feds and arresting the Red Cross for not licensing Microsoft products, *PAH*. He should get on the horn and "donate" some copies to them -- that would be the LAST thing id worry about right now.
i just got a report that texas is selling gas for $8/gallon, OPEC raised their prices to $3/barrel, and we are three and four cars deep up here in Wisconsin at the gas station. Anyone that can give truth to these rumours?
kabul is burning down...what the fuck is going on?!
heres something from my friend in new york

she lives at wagner edu, a short distance from the WTC buildings:
I can't even begin to explain how I feel. Dana woke me up this
morning telling me to look out my window. I couldn't believe what I
saw. After standing amazed for a while, I saw the world trade center
collapse. Amazing. It's like a disaster movie, I still can't
believe it's happening.
The entire floor is bonding and finding support from each other.
Classes have been cancelled today, and probably tomorrow. There are
buses going to local hospitals with blood donors. Many people have
family that worked at the World Trade Center, and it's hard to get
info.
It's so strange to look out at the skyline... the smoke is starting
to clear a bit, but how is it NY without those buildings?
Thank you all for your support, I will keep trying to call, but the
lines are really busy. "
im a tempremental, nervous person. I punch things when I'm angry. I'm not nearly as angry when I have a healthy dose of starcraft, counterstrike, or even better, outdoor paintball (in real life). Why don't you get some psychologists to come in and watch these groups play different games. I mean, they're juvenile offenders and people too, but it doesn't mean we can learn from the _mistakes_ we've made as a society...
when they used to be plastic, with the colours printed right now the plastic my mom would pry them off with a butter knife and reaattach them to the "collective" in the right sequence. Great moral lesson there...watching my mom cheat at a childs game when I was four, and fuckign with knives while doing it.
Lawyers: "No, its a HOMEstation, dont get confused by playing on the home station, Sony is a plague on the earth....much like open source, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket."
this is a crazy, scary statement:

99.9% -- seems a little low to me

wouldn't it be great to see a stupid terrorist land in the middle of one of those turbines?
