Yes I too still have the 3G (was stuck in a 3-year contract) and just pre-ordered the iPhone 5 which compared to the 3G is going to be a night and day kind of upgrade !!!
I would imagine any legacy customers will using the 3G / 3GS will take the opportunity to upgrade for sure.
I don't typically watch much television but enjoy Game of Thrones.
To watch Game of Thrones legally ON MY Television HBO and Rogers (the local cable company) make me do the following:
1. Subscribe to the local cable company (most channels I don't want) 2. Upgrade to HD and get the HD PVR box (now paying for more channels I don't want) 3. Get the upgrade to HBO / TMN (paying for even more channels I don't want) 4. Wait once a week for the show to air (annoying) 5. Record it on the PVR so I can fast forward through commercials (even more annoying and at which point I'm not even watching it is real-time anyways)
All of the above costs well lover $100 per month (on a 1-year contract) in the Toronto area through Rogers. Just to watch one series !!!
Or the alternative:
1. Go online a few hours after the show airs, download to USB stick, plug into television and watch.
DHS = Department of Homeland Security FOIA = Freedom of Information Act PTSD = Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder EPIC = The most overused word ever, next to fail. for even more asshole points, use them together to form "epic fail." (quoted from Urban Dictionary)
If one "anonymous" person could take down 5 million websites then we might as well give up on the Internets...
Then again it could have been one GoDaddy Admin who accidentally misconfigured the routing tables that caused all of this... I'd probably want to be anonymous if I was that person as well...
Blizzard can easily monitor a users activeity outside of their network by "scraping screenshots". You don't think there's a privacy issue with that?
Especially since they've kept it under wraps for years and failed to mention it in the privacy policy?!
Hey by the way every time you post a screen we will track you. And be warned that anyone else who views your screenshot could potentially figure out what your User ID is. And if you upload the screenshot to a forum there is a chance that the forum software might have a vulnerability that allows virtually anyone to connect your WOW UserID to your Email Address on the forum and your IP address at which point they could figure out where you live, who your ISP is and pretty much everything else...
It doesn't matter if you're a geek or not... you should hire a web designer who's portfolio of websites is in line with what you are looking for. Unless of course you are a designer. Otherwise it doesn't matter how many books you read, the website will look bad. You need an artists touch. Someone who's got experience.
The point is Sony has nothing that looks as good as Gears of War but the potential is there. So maybe next Christmas we'll get a game for the PS3 that actually looks as good as it plays, something that looks next gen.
Considering Sony has been hyping full 1080P support and presumably going after people with huge flatpanel televisions you would think there would have been more eye candy at launch. Even a Dead or Alive style fighter (remember how good that looked on the Dreamcast). Something to wow your firends with.
I would guess that it's easier to build something when you've got ground to stand on (even in low gravity). A solid foundation lends itself to a structure that will last.
Getting material out there may be more costly at first, but a moon base should be more cost effective over the long haul, especially if future expansion can utilize some of the resources the moon has to offer (even if it's just shelter).
Considering how long these projects take to complete I would say we've got the Orbiter, lets do the moon next.
Actually an update to M.U.L.E with better graphics, online gameplay, a little more depth on resource types and land usage and NO CHANGE to the audio would be pretty good.
I would "push them back" too. Stallman looks like a street bum wearing clean clothes. When visiting the leader of a country he should at least get a garter belt to suck in that beer gut.. and shear off the out of control hair. I don't want to know what he's got hidden in the beard... leftovers?
Realize that there are a lot of families with kids out there these days... a lot of new parents who grew up on Nintendo themselves. Console gaming goes in cycles which is why it seems like Nintendo is getting popular again. That will last a few years and then the kids will grow up and buy the PlayStation 5... Its also the reason why both Sony and Microsoft envision a livingroom with their console AND the Wii.. even they realize that Nintendo does kid gaming best... and the older teens that owned the PS1 6 years ago are starting to have kids... full circle.
Finally a lot of us late 20 / early 30 somethings wish we were kids again and will probably buy the Wii because of the hype. Anyway you look at it things are looking up for Nintendo right about now. Consider the DS a test run.. its currently outselling all consoles. The Wii is only going to be $100 more.
The white one for $200 less has the same CPU and Superdrive specs.. the only difference is the colour and 20GB less HD. The parent is correct, you are paying an additional $150 - $200 just for the colour.
Of course they already do... The largest ISP in Toronto (Rogers) is also the cable company, HDTV provider, On demand... Payperview hookup.. phone company.. they already run all of this to my living room on a 5Meg line... not all of it is IP yet but they are slowly converting everything to IP (eg. homephone)... the HD is compressed bigtime (doesn't look as good as over the air)... I max my line out all the time with torrents and newsgroups and Rogers own content... thats why I'm paying like $120 / month.
But thats the point... they got me paying through the nose... As long as they charge for the service its not going anywhere... HD Video over IP is just another cash cow for the ISP's who are the Cable companies anyways.... they've caught up but like to pretend they havnen't.
I really want to get a new MacBook pro, however I don't want to deal with the heat issues that I'm currently dealing with on my 12" G4 PowerBook.
The metal exterior looks nice but gets almost too hot to touch (on the Powerbook G4 at least). This doesn't seem to happen on the plastic G4 iBooks (as much) so i wonder if the case itself is the problem? I have had to replace my harddrive 3 times since purchasing the notebook (almost 3 years ago) each failure was heat related according to the Apple tech guy.
It seems ludicrous that Apple would be underclocking hardware to run it cooler, but if the new MacBook pros do run cool it would probably be worth the upgrade. Can anyone with a macBook pro confirm if they run cooler than their G4 counterparts?

RedHat must have known about this before they acquired Gluster ...
It seems like patent lawsuits are a good marketing strategy these days to get press. Any press is good press I guess.

No wonder people "pirate" television!!!!

that Australians are Dumb, Drunk and Racist ... so this type of thing is not surprising really.
Seems like more of the same ... just a speed bump ... what ever happened to Think Different?

I'd buy an XBOX 360 for $100 .. heck I'd buy 10.

CNET's just craving traffic.
.. when DS Lite and Wii have had a chance to penetrate the market Nintendo may buy Apple ... at least CNET will tell us so.
In about a year
I've been using Vonage for 6 months now ... it's great.
You're right ... I never noticed the 15" MBP is the same price as the 17" .. maybe more .. with the same specs. WTF!!!????
