Actually, DIVX is what you're porobably referring to. DIVX was the failed Circuit City rental DVD thing that sucked, hard.

DivX is the video codec, coined from cute creators who were poking fun at the disaster of the DIVX product. It was, at one point, named 'DivX ;-)' in a futile effort to differentiate itself.

Gateway to the rest of the Solar System? Proportionately speaking that would be like me buying a house across the street from me and using that as a point of departure for all my vacations.

But it's more than just proportions. Going across the street doesn't make it significantly easier to go on vacation, but going to the moon makes getting spaceships zooming across the Solar System significantly cheaper by getting them away from the gravitational pull of the earth.

Buying a house near an airport makes some parts of the vacation shorter.

Does anyone else see something wrong wanting to fight Microsoft with AOL/TW?

Sure, Microsoft may be the primary target to elimanate poorly designed Operating Systems, but all they want is control of your computer.

If AOL/TW outdid Microsoft, I'd be scared shitless. Internet-connectivity, cable, operating system, all bundled under one monolithic, aimless corporation?

I get shivers just thinking about it.
