I'm running as normal user on XP without administrative privledges and all seems to be fine.
I use "Run As" whenever I need to install something which is a little annoying, but no more than on my Linux box when I want to install something as root.
I used to think that all rap music was "crap", *until* I heard KRS-ONE. He brings the consciousness back into rap. Because of KRS-ONE I discovered a whole new world of music that I used to be proud to hate.
Listen to "Return of the Boom Bap".
"We will be here forever. Do you understand? Forever and ever and ever and ever. We will be here forever."
(although his last few albums have been a bit disappointing)
You make a good point about the option of activating XP over the phone.... but correct me if I'm wrong, I think this was how the current *successful* cracks for XP activation work. By entering in the generated code that you would have received over the phone. This was the point of weakness for the XP activation.
There were other "hacks" that involved physically replacing DLLs, but that's changing the OS and it could be detected easily by Microsoft...
Why do Americans hate soccer so much? I'll admit here in Canada it's not as popular as everywhere else in the world, but most Canadians have a great respect for the game.
In fact, everyone that I know is pumped about the World Cup. We even worked our work project schedule around it, as we realized productivity will be low this month.
Seriously, what is it? Is it not manly enough for you? As if baseball is a real physical sport...
North America's view (excluding Mexico) of soccer really sucks. It's an amazing sport -- funny that the rest of the world seems to think so too.
Does Microsoft actually do code reviews of their own code?
Does anyone in their QA department have any knowledge of security?
Sure accidents happen, but you would think any networking code intended to be used on a public network would be thoroughly examined for any weaknesses/exploits.
I know I was a little disgruntled when I couldn't transfer my mp3s from the Nomad to my PC. However after an update of bios and software they allow you to do this. I didn't try another PC though, just the one I used to put the mp3's on my Nomad.
However, there's a catch - you can only transfer the mp3s you put on it, not the "protected" ones preinstalled.
Whoa. I haven't had any of the problems you have mentioned.
My batteries worked fine after a 12 hour charge - they last about 3 hours though. I charged my second set with an external charger that I already had, and they worked fine as well.
As for the no fast-forward or rewind - this bothered me too - however get the latest update from http://www.nomadworld.com and you will get this functionality!
Not to mention the ability to transfer mp3's off of your Nomad to your PC. This bothered me as well - unfortunately you can't transfer "protected files" such as the ones that come pre-installed. Only the mp3's that you put on yourself.
I love my NJB...

As a converted white boy who grew up in a redneck small town where radio stations would advertise "No rap" as a selling point, I now can finally appreciate hip-hop for what it is.
I look back and can't believe how close-minded I was in the past. I'm glad I opened my eyes and gave hip-hop a chance as it is can be far more real than anything out there.
Saying that all hip-hop is about drive-by shooting and drugs is like saying all rock is like Marilyn Manson.

Subject: Your CGI featured on Slashdot From: marcotte@panix.com To: jdf@panix.com Date: Sat, 28 Aug 1999 01:20:39 -0400 (EDT)
Your CGI which was featured on slashdot was causing all sorts of problems on our servers. Since it needs to make many queries to another server, it takes a long time to run. That coupled with the fact that slashdot is a very high volume site caused your perl processes to back up and cause both of our web servers to stall. It is quite likely that babelfish was overloaded also.
I needed to rename it so what it wouldn't cause the servers to go down again. You may want to put up some examples of what the script can do instead. At least until the traffic levels off.
In general we need you to let us know when you expect a large increase in traffic (I'm assuming you submitted the link to slashdot).
Thank you.

So, I'm honored to have been featured on Slashdot. Now, is there anyone out there who's willing and able to host my little toy?
In the meantime, if you like, please submit your email address via this form, and I'll send you a note when the script is up and running again somewhere.

Try Squid, and port forward TCP 3128.
Works well.
When I was in university back in '92, Smalltalk and C were the two languages you learned in first year.
At the time, I couldn't appreciate Smalltalk for it's OO-ness -- but I'm really glad they taught it to give us the intro OO.
I can't think of a better language to learn OO, despite it not being very useful, and the version we used crashed a lot on Windows.
It helped me. Kudos to Carleton University, where the 'K' stands for "quality".
Is this true?

Not sure about the other companies Barrons predicted that were going to run out of money soon, but they were very much wrong with Secure Computing.
This article drove down the stock about 30% and it was complete rubbish.
Check out Secure's response.
