  16. IT won't go dead, but it will move to India on Is the IT Department Dead? · · Score: 0

IT won't go away as long as we use what we know as computer.

I believe computing platform is changing rapidly and software layer has surpassed most IT admin's expectation of what it is originally designed to do.

With virtualization growing, there will come a day where entire software side of the computing is encrypted and changes made in the system & network can happen without physical changes.
This kind of IT landscape will permit hardware maintenance given away to 3rd parties with a complete confidence of system and data security.

You can imagine dataroom filled with heap of systems specially designed to support virtualization nodes. Under this specific hardware model, entire system is composed with many identical hardware and once system has integrated, then there won't be any changes made to the system. As hardware failure occurs, virtualization can automatically migrate onto healthy system while hardware is being replaced. Engineers who replace hardware do not require great deal of knowledge, because each unit is duplicated from single source and only required to have uniq ID/password to join the virtulization node.

For example, you can think of having hundreds of dvd-players connected and turned on which can be replaced upon automated failure notice by Engineer who knows how to find failed dvd-player and being able to exchange the unit. In the future, it will take 1 genius to design the virtualization unit and hanful of A+ certified engineer to replace the failed unit.

I believe, this will happen so people can better spend their time rather than doing mundane IT works. I believe automation will put people out of work, but at the end, it will free people from hard meaningless works, so people can pursue what they really believe.

There are range of tools and cookie cutter stuffs already written for in asp/net allows very powerful function to exist especially inter-operate ability with different MS product like sharing outlook generated schedule via exchange server out to web portal.

However, putting medical records requires requires middleware between ms platform and medical softwares. I see this use of middleware becomes security problem here. Windows do not work very well when 3rd party glue is applied to the what seems to be rigid architecture it shares between products of ms. This inability to have full control over the protocol, situation usually involving previously unthoughtful of...should I say out of boundary for what original purpose of the software calls for...ends up becoming the problem.

Having a good mentor and leader makes world of difference like day and night. If we don't change and elect more leaders with smart, wisdom, and sacrificial mind-set oriented leaders, then our future experience will be very negative and hard one.

Check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_time and look for annaul work hours.

Typical office workers in Korea work schedule is something like this

    M-F: 7AM-7PM 2 days & 7AM-9PM 3 days
    Sat: 8AM-2PM
    Sun: day-off.

Someone that I knew had this work schedule
    M-F: 7AM-9PM
    Sat: 9AM-6PM
    Sun: day-off.

You have to remember study and statistics are almost always fudged and does not reflect correct average working hours. The study shows 1777 US average annual working hours. Who here works 6.5 hours everyday for 5 days working week for a year. That is without vacation time counted in.
With 20 days vacation(you must be big wigs of company in order to get this kind of vacation package)show 7.1 hours work hours per day. Hem...I know I am not one of them.

I am wondering what real SK work hours are like. Remember, over working employee is stated illegal in every country, but employers are known to do it all the time. Companies cannot tell you that you cannot go home but they can assign you a huge load of work and sit and watch how employees will react. Most of time, employees suck it up and stay signed on especially job market is doing bad. SK job market are known to be one of the worst in the world.

I wish SK would come to acknowledge poor human rights and working hours situation in Korea and put time and energy fixing the issue rather than wasting it all away on things that look shiny and nice(woo....ahhh...stuffs) but is absolutely on the bottom of the priority. The robot rights drafting should not even on their list!
