Well unless they've fixed it, a +1 Funny moderation adds nothing to your Karma. Someone moderating it as Informative probably wanted to give the author a little karma as a reward for the amusing story.
Because of Big Business... We have laws like DMCA that limit our freedoms.
Because of Big Business... We have companies like Microsoft who are holding back an entire industry.
Because of Big Business... We are at war in Iraq.
Because of Big Business... Because of Big Business... Because of Big Business... Are you getting the pattern here? People who support OSS generally are against Big Business. Open source software preserves our freedoms, nobody can take our Linux away from us.
On a side note, my bank has always worked perfectly with browsers I've used (Mozilla/Opera/Firefox under Linux), and I sent them a note thanking them for keeping it compatible for those who don't run Windows/IE. I never got a reply, but I'd like to think a bit of positive reinforcement helps to keep things working the way I like.
I've been using Mandrake 10 on all my computers since the first Community pack came out and I haven't had any problems with my partitions at all. Actually, that's only half true. I also have a couple computers running Debian with the 2.6 kernel, and those haven't had partition problems either.
That's a lot of work for something that really doesn't matter that much. I mean sure, grades are important, but they're not so important you can't wait until Monday to see your results.
I've even been compiling things while playing games and I don't notice any performance loss. It's much better than watching the compiler lines march across my terminal.
Am I the only one who thought about that telepathic race of aliens in HHGTTG where they are constantly talking so their brain doesn't broadcast every thought they're having? It's an interesting idea, though. If the FBI/CIA/KGB/MIB get ahold of you and try to interrogate you with this, just start spouting random words, it'll garble the rest of what they're trying to make you think out loud.
Suppose I work for IBM (I don't.), and I write some code. This code is then donated to Linux. Would IBM still own the writes to said code and be able to include it within a closed-source project (AIX)? It is my understanding that IBM would still own that code, and could do with it as they want. If that is true, then would it work the other way around? IBM contributes code to AIX and that same code gets contributed to Linux. They wrote the code, they own it. They're not "stealing" from Unix and putting it in Linux.

The Two Towers and Return of the King are technically not sequels. Tolkien wrote it all as one book, and only split it into three when his publishers told him they couldn't print a book that big.
Tell me, what's to stop Yahoo! (or AOL or MSN) from just looking at this source and patching their holes that allow these clients access?
Then they'd have to patch their official client, and then the users of the official clients would have to go and upgrade. There are only so many times you can force users to upgrade before they'll start jumping ship.
I'm a lowley script-kiddie. I'm going to get {YourCompany} in trouble by spamming out "Buy {YourProduct} from {YourCompany} cheap!" You get in trouble, even though you had nothing to do with it.
Why was this comment moderated as "Funny"? I think the poster has some valid points. It's debatable whether the power outage was caused by MS flaws, but I think it was a contributing factor. I don't think it's "Funny" that these kinds of things are allowed to happen. How about "Insightful" or even "Informative"?
I want to see a more organized asm language. But rather than call it asm.net or something silly like that, let's just break the words down. It's ORGanized ASM, so we can call it ORGASM. I bet we get a LOT of college students who want to try it out.;)

You mean your parents' basement.
There are so few geek girls as it is, we refuse to acknowledge the possibility that some are lesbian.

Free as in beer = Free stuff! Take it! Use it! Don't PAY for it.
Free as in speech = Freedom. You have the right to do this.
Even a broken clock shows the right time twice a day.

That's odd... I thought W came before X.
T U V X W Y Z just doesn't sound right to me.

Seems like i have to install something after all.
Use Mozilla, it has automatic font resizing. I usually have it bound to Ctrl-Mousewheel to resize. Very handy.

Makes you wonder what Bush was thinking when he gave the name of "Axis of Evil" to Iran, Iraq, and China.
Iraqi soldiers killed: "We're winning!"
American soldiers killed: "We're taking casualties, it's tragic."
It's not "double standards." We're simply cheering for who we see as the Good Guys, and booing the Bad Guys.

Correlation DOES imply causation, it just doesn't prove causation.

I think we /.ed the KDE site.
