You hurt asteroid 26KWG's feelings; it thought it had at least a snowball's chance in hell of destroying earth but now it sees it's being compared to SCO and has become (more) cold and despondent.
One of the scariest things about Microsoft is that they can afford to make mistakes costing millions of dollars getting nothing from it except a learning experiance. They can afford to do it over and over again until they have something that is actually fairly reasonable (this is what happened with IE, this is what happened wtih directX) At that point they can use their new found comptence along side money generated from other products to dominate.
Except if you read the article you would see that they didn't actually crash the cars, it was just a suggestion Bill made on how they might get some of them into the states.
If someone wrote a variant of the worm that infected via the same method, killed the other worm if it were there, patched the system, tried 1 round of infecting other machines and then deleted itself.
I don't advocate such a thing, since it would also be wrong and illegal; but it would be interesting.
201 was actually more a "beat you until you have good style" and a "let's teach you how to use a framework" class than advanced data structures.
When I was the grader for the class I asked the instructor if the Microsoft donation was the reason that the change to MFC was made. She claimed it wasn't. She was not the one responsible for getting the donation, it was handled by someone else. I think the reason we got the donation, however, was because that someone else *asked* for the donation through a contact they had at Microsoft.
Back when I was more of a mac person I had one of those Quadras that had a PC card built in. I was a keystroke away from switching environments at any time. It was pretty spiffy and a lot faster than an emulator but now-a-days I think getting one of those cards costs more than just buying a complete system and it's slower.
Then there's the laptop people like the other reply mentions that like macs but want to be able to run pc software; they can't put in a daughterboard.
I can't be the only one that has used a crack on software purchased legally in order to not have to have the stupid CD in the drive.
To label me a criminal because of this is asinine.
As such, looking for it being cracked in order to ascertain if I am a criminal is also asinine along with being against the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing.
You're using material that I have copyrighted in making that reply. I refuse to show you what it is unless you sign this nda that also happens to award me all your money and your first born child. I am also going to sue slashdot because they are illegally using your comment. I am also going to sue microsoft because some people are reading your comment on a windows machine. Your cat will also hear from my lawyers concerning some open-can tuna it was eating. It had a licence for the tuna, but a hairball emited by said cat made its way back into the public domain.
In a large company it is not just one person that makes all the choices or even all the major choices. They deligate Some of those they deligate to make choices you agree with, some of them don't.
So while one or a few people at the top can set the tone of a company, which you interpret as evil, they are very unlikely to make the entire company 'evil'
So they're making it a Fellony to Upload a SINGLE copyrighted song? That's still nuts. 1. This makes you have less of a penalty for walking into a CD store and stealing the CD from there. The punishment should be equal to the same crime in the real world. Not magically enhanced for being done via the computer.
2. As the article says, some may be connected to a network, not even know that they are sharing songs, and then be stuck with a fellony.
"I hear of abuse stories a good deal. How many are true, how many are fabricated? I don't know."
Why, that sounds like a job for a polygraph!
I figured I would mention that I saw this url when looking through those results

It does look like he has a bunch of proof of concept stuff. (Though not too much for gamespy) Along with DOS attack stuff for some games.
Take this how you will.
You will be hearing from my cat's lawyer!

Fire can also grow and replicate though I suppose it doesn't communicate without intervention.
Is it alive?

"That would be like saying that a record company should pay your postage if you sell your CD over eBay."
No, but it would give me a nice, warm feeling inside. Doesn't that count for anything? C'mon record companies, show me some postage love!
Why do I get the feeling that this fusion project has the codename "Duke Nukem Forever"

Of course, I don't know for sure.

(how am I doing so far?)
how I could get a job working at SCO?
I want to see how the pointy haired boss looks in real life.

I guess he has a point.
You can replace "Internet" with pretty much any information medium and those would both still hold true.
Something those that don't believe anything on the internet should keep in mind.

And if you were wondering, that's not a typo. They did call it "Duck tape"
It even had a picture of a duck on the package.
I was given something just like this, it was in a little package and called "Duck tape"
How can this guy get a patent for something that already exists and is sold?
Or will his patent just be denied?
Yeah, I noticed that as well. (Hard to not)
People are saying subscription error?
Weird.
