I think taking a digital camera into a movie that is capable of recording (admittedly low quality) VIDEO, is going to get you chucked out as fast as if you turned up with your handycam...:)
Pray tell why Andreesen is in there for making a browser based on existing standards then whilst Linus wrote a far more impressive piece of software...
A wonderful spoof of the Segway (nee "ginger") well worth the bits its printed on. The Megway runs on water , folds for easy transport and storage, and sports a "20 petaflop bioelectrical computer," "Opposable Digits Technology," and "HOT RACING ACTION (action, action, action...)!!!" Also be sure to catch the groovy Megway movie.
80% in favour clicky which to me is rather worrying. Interestingly these are being phased in by the Government due to concerns about terrorism, whereas the typically xenophobic British public is far more interested in them as a method for keeping immigration "under control". These are supposedely going to be compulsory by 2010 and the Government wishes to change the law so that carrying falsified papers leads to a HEFTY (10 year IIRC) maximum sentence. Blunkett scares the crap out of me, every week there is a new story about how he wishes to erode our civil liberties. I don't wear my tin-foil hat that often, but I have always said that as soon as ID cards become cumpulsory, I would take my citizenship, and my skills elsewhere.
Are there similar pushes for this in the USA? - who lets face it (along with Spain) were on the sharp end of the current terrorist activity.. not the UK..
Of course if you it RTFA you'd realise they had already bred it. And the success rate is about equivalent to the early mammalian cloning experiments (eg Dolly) so its not that surprising, techniques always get more effective the longer they are in use and the more widespread they become.
Hmm yes, like when SGI shipped their machines with much the same problem. Has nearly a decade of fighting computer intrusion taught them nothing. Thats pretty shoddy Cisco.
Bad form replying to my own post - does this mean that anti-american sentiment is going to increase Linux use because people won't want software out of Redmond? I find that at best spurious.
Rudy Ruckers "White Light" a fictional account of the concept of infinity. A lot of it reads like an LSD trip but it got me thinking about things in a whole new way. I don't think its quite as technical as the one reviewed above though;)
In "The Case for Mars". Moon bases and space stations increase cost and complicate missions and crucially will push back the date by which we get there. Direct to Mars is clearly the best approach but who is going to convince Nasa? Or Bush?!
Hmm I hadn't considered that - I do like TV I can dip in and out of. I don't actually watch much TV (probably 2 hours a week) so following long lasting story arcs really doesn't appeal.
I have to say though - I missed 24 when it came on TV, there's no way I would be able to say I will be in 24 consecutive weeks to watch something like that, but I'm now devouring it on DVD completely hooked. Maybe I'll score some Farscape DVD's off my sis and see if it improves my appreciation.
It's funny how people split on this divide. I love SG-1, I think its one of the best bits of Sci-Fi programming in years, I rate the series way more than I rate the film. I think Enterprise and Voyager are the best of the Star Trek canon. I couldn't stand Babylon 5 or DS9 (ST:NG got was especially ropey at points) and I think Farscape is simply the most ridiculous nonsense masquerading as Sci-Fi. My sister lives for Farscape and thinks its the best thing every to appear on TV. Horses for courses I say. One mans poison etc...
Erm bacteria don't have mitochondria, they are a feature of some eukaryotic cells not prokaryote ones. The accepted wisdom is that mitochondria are derived from intracellular prokaryote symbiotes.

Orkut has pics of hot geek chicks. What more excuse do you need?

Am I the only person who can't seem to understand what that is meant to mean?
OpenSSL/0.9.6d?
Shouldn't they update?

MM nice, RTFA headline? The link is in there - nicely relinked sir! You must not be new here ;)

I don't want you on the same motorway as me. Idiot.
apt-get or yum is your friend
as seen here last year

Worryingly I had followed one link in the top 10 alreayd :/
Bio-Linux
BioBrew
DNALinux
I'm a developer for one of the above projects. Competition is interesting.
And you didn't find this sentence even more scary?:
:S
"I support birth control - I support sterilization Laws to enforce it against - Dopers - Drunks - Retards and Illegal Aliens"
Woo back to the good old eugenic days of the early 1900's for this chap. Fuck all of a sudden I feel almost good about being in the UK
