    Cuba is a dictatorship today. You know, what bothers me the most about this post is the total lack of self-awareness. Is the poster genuinely ignorant of what Cuba is? Or is fully aware and just blanks out that part of the mind and stops critical thinking whenever the topic of socialism is (apparently) under attack? Because it's one or the other.

    I had such high hopes for the new management, but it seems a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss." This isn't a story, it's not news for nerds, it's not stuff that matters. It's not even a hack. It even involves Twitter, which gives it negative points. What are we supposed to learn from this? Secure email accounts that don't belong to you? For a former celebrity who doesn't even use Twitter?

    After the communists took over Cuba and murdered everyone who resisted, the Cuban people were actually poorer than before. Where did Castro go when he needed medical care? To one of the vaunted Cuban doctors? No fucking way, he went to Spain and saw a real doctor. Under communism, everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.

    Any time a site with a muddy history like Slashdot does a story about something cool and totally ignores the cool angle and immediately focuses on what the only topic the far-left is interested in, that's a bunch of bullshit.

    It IS part of the "oppress nerds, uplift women" thought. Because if it wasn't, where is the racist talk? Feminism is for white women, and that's exactly what we have here. The racists are totally absent from this conversation.

    Yaknow, I've been around enough British people and frankly I think that their 'sarcasm' is frequently not sarcasm at all, but bitterness and hate directed outward. Then, when called out on it, you just say "I was just taking the piss mate" and pretend to be offended. 30 seconds later, right back to making horrible comments. I really don't think it's sarcasm.

"It helps the iranians remember whom to elect." how utterly snobbish. As if there are right and wrong choices in a free election. There is only "agrees with me" and "doesn't agree".     Why on Earth would anyone ever actually vote for Hillary Clinton? She is a horrid shitstain of a human being who belongs in prison. She is power-mad and worse, part of a dynasty. We don't need that shit in America. So, who are you people who support her? More importantly, WHY do you support her? How can you possibly reward her lawbreaking with an election to the highest office in the land? The arguments I've seen so far are that she's a woman so women should vote for her, and voting Hillary is a kind of protest vote against Trump. Look, there's already Sanders for people who want to throw their votes away, you don't need two protest candidates. I am really geniunely curious how so many of you out there can support her.

    Oh, and for anyone who doesn't think it was a big deal: what if Senator Ted Cruz kept his own private email server that was promptly rooted by several foreign countries, and routed classified emails through there? Kind of puts the right perspective on Hillary's crimes, don't you think?

    How much traffic do New Zealand and Peru exchange every day? Sure, you can have that bridge across the ocean...but at what cost? Just look at one of those night satellite photos that shows all the splashes of light in the world, and build your satellites near them. That's where your traffic will originate and terminate.

    You won't be in the "cockpit" of the drone, because drones don't have cockpits. By the way, can we get rid of the word "cockpit"? It means "a pit or enclosure for cockfights" or "a place noted for especially bloody, violent, or long-continued conflict". If we could talk about aviation without reminding ourselves that we put innocent animals to fight for our amusement in blood sports, that would be great.

    I don't believe it. Is Slashdot going to stop those ridiculous paid links to forbes.com? What about the relentless left-wing social justice stories that blame nerds for everything wrong in the world? What about constant news-today-gone-tomorrow political stories that are general news, at best? I don't see any of those going away under any kind of new management. Irritating as fuck content has been around since the Jon Katz stories wouldn't stop appearing.

    That's not a solution. Toxic chemicals are still being discharged into the environment. The toxins are the problem, not the ventilation of the area. There will need to be new laws and new regulations governing these dangerous machines. I'm sure the good people at the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) will come up with some. What are environmentalists good for, if not ensuring a nice world for humans to live in? Even if they have to regulate it out of existence.
