It might have been best for Toronto to not win. That city is too big and its suburbs are sprawling onto some of the most productive farmland into the country. Its infrastructure is not growing as fast as the population. I am not certain that it could handle much more growth at least not rapid growth. It's insane to consider living there with an income under $100K. If anything, Toronto dodged a bullet.
Thanks! I liked the show for the first 2-3 seasons, then I didn't. The Friends comparison is apt. I never understood the appeal of Friends. It struck me as so boring.
Nobody has mentioned one of the biggest flaws and that's inflation. Things cost what they do because that's what the market will bear. Things that poor people buy will simply get more expensive when more dollars are chasing the same goods and services and they'll still be begging at intersections. It would be worse if governments create new currency rather than borrow or tax to get those dollars to redistribute.
That doesn't work well in places like the US, Canada and Australia where provincial, state and territorial governments maintain vehicle registries. People move across jurisdictions, so do vehicles. A car that I inherited a couple of years ago was initially registered in BC, then Ontario, now Quebec. Plates that follow vehicles might work in unitary states or federations where the registry is ru by the federal government.
I've never understood the need for a validation sticker. Quebec stopped issuing them in the early 90s. It's not like a cop is unable to run six or seven characters and numbers in the police computer to ensure the plate is valid. They do it anyways on cars from other provinces with stickers.
Some things never change. I remember back in 1992, there was a dude in our dorm who bet his student loan on the new at the time sports lottery. I think that he bet on hockey games. He got called Pete Rose for a year for that dumb move.
Maybe people should take their licence plate off their cars and toss them in the trunk when they go to places where licence plate readers are being used. It's ridiculous and impractical to have to even consider protecting privacy participating in a legal activity on private property.
About ten years ago, I remember passing through a temporary checkpoint with my dog on NY highway 30 just north of Tupper Lake on our way camping at Old Forge. I'm Canadian. My car has a Quebec licence plate. They waved me through like it was a construction site. I wonder what they were looking for if they didn't want to talk to a non-American.
I have owned an iPhone 5 for three years. I love it as much as one can love an electronic device. It replaced a 3Gs. The 5 does all I want it to do and I am in no hurry to replace it. Until apps won't update or run at level that I am happy with. I was willing to not buy an iPhone next time because I don't want a big phone or pay $1000 for a phone. This might make me consider an iPhone in a year or two when this one has reached end of useful life.
Seems like you fucking Canadians have the same problem. The speed limit is 65 miles per hour. Not kilometers. Move your fucking minivan over to the slow lane. I'm looking at you, lady with the Quebec plates!
As a slow driving lady with a Quebec licence plate. (Our cars only have a plate on the back), I resent you implying that I have a minivan, you insensitive clod.
I had a 3GS that I got used. Last year, Rogers in Quebec had a deal with 5G of data, unlimited texting, unlimited local calling and domestic long distance for $70. I got an iPhone 5 on contract. What the hell? Anyhow, the clerk started pushing me towards Samsungs, but once he found out I already had an iPhone, stopped pushing the Nexus.
He then told me that Rogers pushes the Android phones harder because there is more profit in it for them.
Whether it's true or not, I can't say, but Tim Cook might be right in saying that people bought something that they were manipulated into. However, that's business and I am sure that there are people who are walking around with expensive Apple products that they don't need or planned to by either.
Firstly, this is Facebook. It's easier to collect, aggregate and sell data from a select list rather than allow people to enter what they want.
Secondly, this is Facebook, many people who might be in the 50 options of gay and transgender should be wary of trusting a company not to share that information beyond what the user originally sets in their privacy settings.
Finally, many people who might considered to be in the 50 options of gay and transgender and happy with the dichotomy.
Canada is so civilised that it does not have bail bondsmen. I think that is something that is exclusively American and falling into disfavour.

conform or be cast out.
Now I'm just waiting for Alex Lifeson to say "Subdivisions!".

I prefer pine. An ios version would be somewhat nifty.

If the apologies were sincere, they would let people roll back to Windows 7 or 8.1 easily. Just sayin'

I'm only 16, so I was never around when Slashdot was in its heyday. Slashdot posts are crap today.
If it's any consolation, you really only need one Ramones song. They're all the same anyhow.
I would consider dropping friends who click like.

But besides that, it's okay.

also anecdotal

God Damnit! I paid $279 for that model of toilet at Lowe's.
I wouldn't mind chatting with some old person in Portuguese. It might even push my vocabulary to over 100 words.

They tend to be hand-held wireless devices that are left at the table.
Isn't it right on Lake Ontario between Buffalo and Syracuse or is there a big whoosh that I missed?
