I think the reason that retired Canadians who six months minus a day in Florida or Arizona has more to do with US immigration laws as provincial regs on regarding the revocation of health insurance. Canadians can stay in the US for up to six months without a visa. I'm sure other sunnier countries have similar rules regarding non-working foreigners staying for extended periods of time.
Yeah, for cheap gas, come to Canada, it's only $1.27/litre here (at least in the Ottawa/Gatineau area). Sure you won't get cell service in 90% of the country, but the cell companies are so scummy you wouldn't want to deal with them anyhow.
I think I saw a Gatineau cop with cameras on the roof on Friday. I figure that it was an ANPR system, but thought was weird that the cameras appear to be pointed perpendicular to the road, rather than targetted at licence plates. go figger
I have experienced a mobile x-ray unit on the Canada-US border crossing once. They wouldn't explain what they were doing, but since the border drones get everyone to get out of their cars and take their pets with them, it was a pretty good assumption that they were pumping our vehicles full of radiation to snoop around.
A larger percentage of the Police States of Amerika's population is jail than ever where in STASI and KGB heydays.
In all fairness to the KGB and STASI, the reason that they didn't jail as many people as the the US does now is because they didn't have the same level of African-Americans, Aboriginals or Latinos to disproportionately imprison.
Go fuck yourself, you worthless piece of pond scum. You don't have a right to scare people with your fucking penis substitutes on four legs. If I was coming to clean your pool and I found a great white fucking shark swimming there I wouldn't just nonchalantly carry on with my job.
Where do you live where it's unreasonable to expect a dog at a home and it's reasonable to have a shark in a swimming pool?
It sounds like Julia Gillard is going to be Australia's Kim Campbell, first female Canadian PM. Brian Mulroney screwed the Progressive Conservative's popularity in 1993 and bailed on the party. In the 1993 election, the PCs were hammered in the House of Commons, going from 171 to two seats.
I was in the office at the Constitution Square Building in downtown Ottawa. (45.41718, -75.70358) The swaying didn't bother me as much as the up and down bouncing of the building. It bounced about 5 times. I did wake up in a friend's cottage (deliberately) this morning in Val-des-Monts, (45.71360, -75.71710), 30 km from the epicentre. I would not have wanted to be there alone when it hit.
The mini slides into my purse therefore no need for an extra carrying case as I do with my laptop.
....it seems to me that's where this is heading unless the Canadians get some backbone.
It was a mistake taking Maestro Fresh Wes' advice to let our backbone slide in the late 80s. We might have fared better with a fixed backbone.
You might as well toss SiriusXM in there. Who needs satellite radio if can listen to online streaming anywhere anytime?
The US is officially Metric, right?
I have yet to see a single road sign that says "1200m until exit" rather than "3/4m until exit). US != metric.
Drive the I-95 in Maine. I saw metric exit signs from the NH border to Portlandia.

For some reason, the number, 867-5309, that I put on facebook never gets called. Go figure.

Thanks but I won't bother. I'll just find my 2000-era CDs of Slackware 7 and install it twice.
... and Canada and the province of Ontario.
As long as they don't talk like the characters in SNL's 'the Californians' recurring skit, then they'll be fine.

I think that it was Julian Morrow and it might have been a gullibility test.

That's a little too Torchwood for me.

Cops are stupid by design. http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/09/nyregion/metro-news-briefs-connecticut-judge-rules-that-police-can-bar-high-iq-scores.html

I thought that the provincial louts live north of NY State in the Province of Quebec and the Province of Ontario....just sayin'/
Given that premise, I propose an even more useless geo-political reference. "Magnitude 5.5 quake hits the heart of Cree territory."
The Cree are a little more to the north. There is however, an Algonquin settlement named Kitigan Zibi about 60km west of the epicentre.

I spell my name differently on facebook than my legal name. I don't know if it helps.
Were either of the National Review or patriotroom.com brought to you by the letters A & W, and the number 4?
I think it's retaliation for CBSA officers hassling Amy Goodman. Good on the Border Patrol for defending America's honour.
