I can't remember if ctrl-alt-del worked to bypass the screen saver in Win95 (though I doubt it)

Nope it didn't. Instead, you could just reboot the computer, finger to the power button style. Then at the logon box click the super duper secure cancel button at the logon screen. Then "boom you're in". Then when you're logged in (er not logged in?) right click->properties-screen saver-OFF! Screen savers were terriably hard to circumvent in 9x. ;)

The new data show strong evidence for a five-quark baryon state at a mass of 1.54 GeV, with a narrow width of 22 MeV (FWHM). The experiment, carried out with the CLAS magnetic spectrometer in Hall B at Jefferson Lab, employed a multi-GeV beam of photons and a deuterium target. The reaction produced a K- meson and a proton in the final state, along with the five-quark object, which then decayed into a neutron and a K+ meson. One possible diagram is shown below. The valence quark configuration of the exotic state contains two up quarks, two down quarks, and an anti-strange quark.

I don't know where you get this info from but It's 100% BS. First of all in my experience Windows 2k is FASTER to boot than a server configured exactly the same but with NT4. We even tested this with several servers in our server room. 1 with NT4 one with 2000. Power up both machines at the same time and the first machine to the CTRL-ALT-DEL to login screen was ALWAYS the 2000 machine. We tried this with 2 HP servers and 2 Compaq servers. Both exhibited the same behavior. And ever notice that when you start up a 2000 box it says "built on nt4" ? I have yet to run into a piece of software that ran on NT4 that I couldn't get to run on 2000 with minimal finessing. Especially on a workstation machine.

    more useless baloons as well
I'm not exactly sure what a "baloon" (maybe you mean balLoon) is in terms of a windows based OS so I don't really have much to say about that.

Joe ServicePack has no use for Active Directory, Management Consoles, Bastardized Kerberos, etc.. NT4 security was enough for him.

You know why "Joe ServicePack" has no use for these tools? Obviously not, why do I even ask. Because he is not a network administrator. These tools are all to help manage the network security of an enterprise network environment. To down play their importance is to display your ignorance as to their capabilities. I don't know why my company filled with some of the smartest/brightest people I have ever met spends millions of dollars implementing a technology like active directory if it was a useless technology or feature. Your whole comment reeks of ignorance.

  10. Drag not gravity... on Experimental Fuel-Cell Airplane's 2nd NASA Test · · Score: 4, Insightful

I feel compelled to add another comment here. Everyone is focusing on gravity here as the big factor as to this things glide time. Although this is obviously an issue in the big picture it's not the real issue. Didn't your teachers ever show you the experiments where people would drop a feather and a bowling ball in a vacuum and they would both hit the ground at the same time? Does this mean anything to anyone. I can hear the light bulbs go off now.

The real issue is DRAG a.k.a. FRICTION. If there were no or negligible drag this thing could fly forever. It's the drag that slows it down and causes it to drift back to earth. So what do you need to increase your speed? Propellers. And what drives the propellers? Fuel cells. What these scientists are doing is trying to make their fuel cells more efficient so they can over come their ultimate enemy, drag. Just a little insight for everyone. Cheers again!

surely gravity is less of an issue and the night-time drift downwards would be less significant

Wrong. Gravity still has about the same strength there as it does with your feet securely on the ground. The difference is only negligible. The only reason that satellites and other orbiting objects stay in space is because they are moving very quickly. Imagine this; An object traveling so fast that it is trying to leave earth orbit but it doesn't quite have enough energy to overcome the force of gravity and fly off into space. So it is constantly falling at the same rate, it's just balanced at the perfect position to not fly off and not to fall. This is called orbit. It's not because at some magic spot gravity ceases to be as effective. Look at the moon. Cheers!

Wrong. The more you use your battery the longer they last. If you have a laptop and never take it out of the dock (like tons of users in my office building) after a few years the battery will be shot.
