when I already have Virex running on my Mac, which already comes with my.Mac account.
Additionally I'd like to know how they can come up with this data based upon Mac's increasing popularity.
I don't see how my Mac can become just as infected with spyware and trojans as a my Windows machine.
most spyware found on a windows machine comes from vulnerabilities found in the OS that causes malware code to be executed and installed on your machine without you ever knowing.
This means that malware authors have to now buy a Mac and find vulnerabilities similar to those in Windows to execute there code remotley.
I know there is already trojans and other malware written for a mac out there, but most of them are out dated, Apple has fixed many of those vulnerabilities, they have hardly ever surfaced, and most of them require the user to unwillingly install it.
The other reason many people get malware is because of all the shareware programs they run, if you're stupid enough to download off of limewire Mac OS X.dmg and it's only 3mb big, you deserve to get your home directory wiped clean.
Or try to watch a.wmv movie that requires a certificate from ads.popupcentral.com you deserve it.
Active-X is also a major cause of malware.
I maybe wrong on all of these, but I honestly don't see how my Mac could get the same amount of Malware as my PC.
The whole poing of the Mac Mini is that it's a small affordable system that comes preinstalled with; an OS, a Photo Editor, Movie Editor, Music Player, DVD/VCD designer, and Music Composition software. Additionally most Macs comes pre-installed with Apple Works and World Book Encyclopedia.
Not to mention the splendor of no Adware or a major risk of viruses.
It's amazing how many people say that you can't upgrade a Mac. People who say that are people that have really never used a Mac. With products from Sonnet you can update your old mac into something more current. Sonnet has accelerator cards that can bring your mac from a G3 to a G4, can upgrade your dual G4 by upto 400mhz faster, with out having to change out your motherboard, or buy new ram.
To upgrade my old Athlon 800 by 400mhz faster, I had to buy a new Mobo, and a new processor, making me look for a new buyer for my old processor. Which I hate to part with so I built another machine with it. With every upgrade there seems to be that I either sell, throw-away, or recycle old parts. With the mac, I just buy a new accelerator card and I get to keep everything else that was in it. So again what's the difference?
Wait why do I ask? i'll just be tarred and feathered.
I just find it absolutley amazing how fast those jpegs fly around. My 233 Intel couldn't do that, and it was made five years after this machine was demoed O.o
Probably the worst awards show ever. What was up with all the celebrities accepting the awards for the developers? Can't there be a decent award show without hollywood getting their dirty hands in it?
i don't use my PC to play games or dude stupid little greeting cards, i use my PC to work and make money, and i prefer a system that has yet to get infected by an adware, spyware, malware, virus, or worm and have me scanning, removing and protecting it 24/7 just so that i can finish my work for the day.
what exactly is missing from Apple (besides games). 3DS max isn't available for Apple ooo boo hoo i got Maya big deal, i want to buy Maya Unlimited which is only available for PC, Linux, and Irix, well then i can just install Yellow Dog Linux on my mac on a secon partition and run that.
The entire Adobe suite is available on Mac, the entire Macromedia Suite is availble on Mac.
Office is available on Mac.
This isn't 1998, there is much more support for Apple now than there was back then, if you don't believe me just go surfing around MacMall for a while and you'll see how much PC software is now available for Macs. Not to mention all the free opensource software out there that can easily be compiled and run on a mac, or just use Fink. A large portion of my mac software is opensource.
So cost is too high, heh buy an old iMac machine for 400 to 500 bucks and throw OSX on it, it still runs. You can buy an Emac for 799 to 999 and work very well on it. The machine at my work place is a 1ghz Emac and I use it more than my 2.4ghz machine.
If you want to play video games then yes you can not buy a mac, and a mac will never be a gaming machine, so Apple is definatley screwed in that department.
Because Linux has brought to the average user the knowledge of Unix based systems. Linux is part of the mainstream now, at one point or another people have heard about linux are interested in it as an alternative. If OSX would never have been developed i'd probably still be and MS monkey because i wouldn't have the time nor the inclination to fully operate linux on my own and use it for my everyday work. Linux has opened the eyes of the average user and apple has jumped in for the ride, more power users are buying apple machines now as well as the average user. Maybe not all of the credit should go to Linux but the open source community has definatley helped Apple alot in my eyes, and to me OSX is a perfect introduction into a Unix based system that the average user can work in comfortably.
Personally i believe that Apple owes alot of it's success to linux and the rest of the open source community. I personally use my Mac now than my PC for the simple fact that I have the ease of use of Windows ( and better security than Windows), and the power of Unix. I have used linux before, and frankly it still has a long way to go before i consider it my OS of choice, however with my Mac, i can just as easily use the commercial software i need while at the same time still getting an education in the unix enviornment.
To me Apple has been my gateway to opensource projects, and a greater understanding of 'nix line of OSes, i've been able to understand the structure better and faster than i could while using linux directly. Most of the software i run on my Mac is opensource.
There is a difference between a scene files like Max's.max file and the object export file.3DS. Scene files actually hold and store texture maps, light settings, plug-in settings and anything used by the program to render the scene. An object files is just the mesh object, the actual 3D model (or models if exported with multiple models selected) the point is that there is no actual textures or plugins to import, it's just the model with refrence to textures.
I don't see how you could have a Lossy universal 3d model standard out there, if you exporting a vector based mesh...3D modelling (until rendered) is basically a 3D vector program, where points are ploted to create an object, it's not like a raster image that stores millions of colored pixels.
If I'm wrong about this let me know ( i haven't done 3D in almost a 2 years)...but i don't see how lossy compression or licensing standards even relates to a 3D object.
your all fudged up...it's big foot. He's inviible, like the invisible man.
Actually has anybody even pondered on the idea that it could be biological. Perhaps some form of bacteria that causes some kind of biological chemical combustion system that causes the wires to get really hot and burst info flames?
We just got into the registrar business thanks to the ever so awesome enom. And like many who are starting out we are going with inexpensive and already available tools that are out there. Such as Modernbill, CPanel, and DRAM.
The issue now is now we have to hope that these developers can add tools to work around such lawsuites as this.
We now have to give the option to not have a Comming Soon page available, as well as ask them which DNS they want to use to point to while they register. Maybe go as far as to do a temp host a custom page for them with their companies information, or site information.
I can understand pop-ups and links, and the "Free Advertisement" as being wrong. However, the domain is still pointing at the registrars servers, and is using their space at no cost to "hold" the domain name until it propogates to correct server. So that really should not be a major argument, but I do agree that customers should have the right to opt out of having a ad-run comming soon page with the registrars information. However there will now have to be an option available to customers on what they want instead.
These are tools we have to hope our software providers can implement because many out there don't have the knowledge to develope these tools on there own, nor can they afford to.
A lawsuite like this is ludicrous, but i'm glad it was done to a company that can afford to lose it and provide an education for the rest of us. It's better than having some poor small business guy who, doesn't know any better, loose his house, because some guy decided he was to lazy to do anything about his website.
COOL! Tommorow is 3D Artist Day, and the Next Day is Graphic Artist Day, and the following Day is Video Editor Day. WOW! this as many tasks I have to do at work, i can probably come up with enough holidays to keep me celebrating all year round.
about the things to come....but when LainOS.org posted its info on here it got some flames. PFFT hypocrits. Personally i don't think the network is the computer, nor that it should ever come to that. However, i do like the fact that all the cool things we see in anime are turning from fiction into fact. When will we reach the point where SciFi is just a thing of the past, and we no longer have futuristic expectations?
For me, I fell in love with Evangelion because to me it was a dream, an almost odd occurance of reality being disrupted by something completley unlikley. Evangelion starts you off with so many questions, and leaves you with even more questions. I really can't explain much more for my love of this series, and while I can't say that it is the best series out their, I do claim it to be a masterpiece.
I have a few suggestions but you may find them mainstream. Personally I am not a fan of DB, DBZ, or Gundam, it's popular with kids for some reason or other. I've seen Lupin III it's pretty good, and Love Hina the first I saw of it looked to me like a Tenchi rip off.
I suggest, Ranma 1/2, Fushugi Yugi, El Hazard, Lain, Earthian, Macross Plus, Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe (not Tenchi in Tokyo, it SUCKS!), Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Galaxy Express, Armitage, Project Ako, and Record of Lodoss War.
It is the one and only anime that has touched so many people, and at the same time pissed many more off. There is none other like it, and since Evangelion we've seen many other ripoffs, or more anime with a similar style. Nothing will ever compare to the original. If you do not have a conscience, can not think outside the box, don't like stuff that fux with your head, or if you are just plain stupid, don't watch this series. If you are in for a challenge, and want to expierience why this series is being hailed as a masterpiece, and has become so controversial then go out and rent it. BTW, don't diss the ending till you see the movies.
We definatley need an all anime channel that shows unedited Anime. However it's sad that still some anime gets edited in the U.S. So far the only channels i've seen unedited anime on have been Showtime, Starz, Encore, and the Action channel.

Tiger April 1st, and new dual core G5s June 10th. Yippee. Christmas won't suck this year.
I've been saving some dough for the post WWDC buy-a-thon.

lol couldn't they come up with a better achronym than DVDA, now i won't be able to use this format without thinking of Orgasmo.

Unless you buy the DVD don't I wouldn't go for it. Studio Ghibli movies are always better in their original dubbing. Disney SUCKS!
