From time to time, in order to improve Google Gulp's usefulness for our users, Google Gulp will send packets of data related to your usage of this product from a wireless transmitter embedded in the base of your Google Gulp bottle to the GulpPlex(TM), a heavily guarded, massively parallel server farm whose location is known only to Eric Schmidt, who carries its GPS coordinates on a 64-bit-encrypted smart card locked in a stainless-steel briefcase handcuffed to his right wrist.
If I recall correctly, they would go to bed early, wake up about midnight, play around and eat for a few hours, and then go back to sleep. Then they would wake up early in the morning.
Actaully, my boss is EXACTLY like this. And frankly, as someone with a normal sleep cycle, it's annoying as hell.
Imagine coming in to work on a Tuesday and have 15 e-mails from your boss timestamped 9pm, 9:10pm, 1:13am, 2::20am, then a few more in the morning.
I first thought that he never slept and never stopped working. As it turns out, only the latter is true. But that must go hand-in-hand with being the owner and manager of a company.
Either way, he comes across to his employees that he's insane. But perhaps that is what he needs to run a business.
Not that I have an opinion either way ('cause I don't), but it seems to me that he did not write about himself, but rather edited content about his entry. I don't see why editing your bio, espcially to correct errors, would be such a terrible crime worthy of news.
Actually, my boss is looking to get in more advertising for our company. Appearantly, he wants me to do the web ad stuff. Is it actually possible to sponsor an article on/. or do we have to use the banners?
I figured you were being sarcastic, but honestly I've seen so many 'articles' on this site, that maybe you were being serious.
Same here. I have the Nokia 6255i, which came out early this year, and put a 1 gig MMC. I don't understand why all this is so new? Songs on a phone have been free for a while, provided you buy a phone and the USB cable for it. Why hasn't this phone recieved more press? Is it because it doesn't use iTunes?
In the way you are thinking. If you are thinking that you can download this and call your buddy on his cell, you would be incorrect. You want that service, you gatta pay to use their yakToAnyone service.
This is an instant messenger-like application that does voice and video, a la [every other IM service here].
Hi. I'm John Q. Public. Japanese style, manga, anime, japanimation, or whatever everyone wants to call it this week, to me, is big eyes, small mouth and no nose. There are other aspect that make it that style, but visually, that is what it is to me, John Q. Public. ------
Now, I'm not a "real" or "hardcore" anime fan. I've seen some series here and there, and it's ok, but not really my interest. But as someone who was on the outside and who gave it a real chance, I can tell you that is exactly how most people see anime - as described above. And in fact, it all looks the same to many people in the same way all heavy metal music sounds the same.
That is one of many hurdles it will have to cross to gain acceptance from John.
Why do you think the deaf like Rap and RnB? They can feel that music much more than Pop, generally. My Sign Language instructor (who was deaf from birth) was telling us all about the bands he likes (Snoop, Dre, etc.).
Apple is starting to fight to protect the name iPod. You WILL NOT call generic mp3 players "iPods" and they are backing this up legally now to prevent dilution.
Just like when I say I want a 'Coke' when I want a soda? Or when I call a facial tissue a Klennex?
Shouldn't need more than a watt or so at the right frequency to kill the chip
Yeah but how long until defacing a RFID chip is illegal? What do you mean they can't tell you what to do with something you own stuff? Ever hear of the music industry?
How dare you think of something so simple and logical!
Who seriously thinks that the first line of verification is to "hack" a site? Wouldn't you, you know, try to contact the company in a regular avenue of communication?
Another defense argument is this guy's actions were merely attempts to verify legitimacy of the fund raising site. So, what exactly was he doing to verify? (And why wouldn't he take more traditional avenues such as Googling, etc. What are the implications of every cynical user of a site attempting "access" to verify legitimacy?)
Or how about picking up a phone and CALLING them. If there is no number to call, donate elsewhere.
If you get punched in the face every time you drop a cigarrette butt on the ground, you're going to stop dropping them. The same principle should apply here.
Thanks a million. I just got fired for punching a co-worker in the face for not understanding the inner workings of sendmail.
I love the fine print for Goole Gulp:

I've always been under the impression that it would be fine to perform this live and play it for an audience but once you try to sell it as a record
Did you sell tickets to this event? If so then you just charged someone to hear that music.
(why is it that this stuff always seems easy to us slashdotians? Why do corporations always make it so complicated and broken??)
Cause if you make a product that works right, the first time (and every time) you get no new business.
To put in another way: job security.

The company made a horrendous mistake and yet, there you see two executives bowing apologetically and taking responsibility on the day it happened .
I have to wonder how a U.S. bank would have handled such a mistake?
Well, I can tell you it wouldn't be the company execs who would be bending over...
No. Next?
Hope these answers help!
Ah, so you work for AOL tech support I see.

I somehow suspect that damaging a RFID chip (or passport) will soon be illegal.
Seriously. This belongs in the WoW forums, or in your journal, not on Slashdot as a legitimate article.
Uhhhh you know this IS his journal, right? That thing you're reading now is his forum.
This would be the killer app for Linux and Windows.
(empahsis mine)
And with that comment, the product is surely destined to fail.

Good luck with that!

If you're sitting in one place long enough to play a game for 3 hours, plug it in.
Obviously, you don't travel much. There aren't too many outlets on the airlines I've flown.
Didn't they watch the Batman movies after the first one?
Did anyone?
I always wondered when I added 'filetype:mp3' to my search why Google yielded zero results. Is this a copyright thing?
