Its not just turning on DHCP, Anybody can do that. What the ISP don't tell you is sometimes you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. Like you sometimes have to set your hostname to something specific before DHCP will work. This was to keep people from hooking multiple computers up without paying an additional $5 per machine or whatever. Of course tech support blindly just tells the people "Turn DHCP ON".
What would be interesting would be a virus or trojan that builds its own layer of "trust".
In order to "trust" an application there has to be some way to ensure another application doesn't disable or modify it. Now imagine a virus exploits a trusted application and is now in the trusted realm. You wouldn't be able to remove it because the MMU is protected at the hardware level. Does this mean that virus scanners must be trusted more than the average stock app or bank app? Or is this the end of automated virus detection.

And to have any sort of political control by populating an area, you need both several million people and several billion dollars. I suspect older Eastern socieites had little problem with a male having dozens of female partners. But It probably had a problem with a female who would have dozens of male partners in different societies. The males are sent out to spread the genes, the females are the receivers. And once the society has approved a marriage, like in Christian or Muslim societies, all bets are off, and now the society wants the couple to have as many babies as possible.
Thats how it works in life because of the survival instinct.
Killing promotes survival. Being able to kill well means better survival. Survival is good. What do we have soldiers for? To kill for us. However, killing is only ok to a person if it promotes their personal survival. Killing terrorists ok, killing schoolchildren BAD, Killing someone elses schoolchildren, not as BAD (unfortunately). The fact that David Koresh molested the females in his cult was by design. The fact marriages are (in conservative environments) carried out (approved) by religious leaders in churches is by design.
Sex is more rewarding when done on the sly, because If its opposed by church/angry father/husband then that means that the person is winning the survival of the fittest battle to "spread it around".

Console makers like Microsoft and Nintendo have been tying up developers for the past couple years. They pay the bucks and give out dev kits, whereas there's no one to push for new PC games. Plus the Pc market is 5% RTS, FPS, and RPG, and 95% The Sims. The console market is much larger than the PC market so it seems to dwarf the PC market, but its still there.
When PC games start to break the technology envelope, you'll see a slight shift back to PCs. After all you can't do Doom3 on a PS2.

But does anyone have the insight to ask why they are annoyed? Every time Swarzenneger is on a late night show they make fun of the accent (EVERY TIME). Grammer and spelling police are always present on message boards. Leetspeak is no different.
A human being's ability to survive is based on their ability to function in their environment. So naturally people shun the environment they are least able to function in. Some granny teaching English would shun any sort of abbrieviation of any type, while just down the hall in debate class, kids are learning to write stuff down without vowels in order to keep up with a speech.
Leetspeak was created in part to disguise communications from automated search engines at first, now it is used to make communication faster and more efficient. Both of these things are advantageous to the user and detrimental to those who don't use it. Its this detriment that makes people "annoyed" by leetspeek, or ebonics, or Austrian accents. I would say 75% of school is learning to mitigate the detriment you would otherwise cause society. The knowledge is really secondary to all the other stuff like how to write your heading, where to put the title, cover page/no coverpage, What kind of notebook to use. Whats interesting is that the methodologies of schools don't even match industry today. My chemistry teacher was trying to show us how to use a pipette, and said something like "Everything is automated now with robotics." The pipette was an antiquity. Yet I still have to use one and write my lab on notebook paper, because that's the way its always been done. If I turned something in typeset neatly in a binder I would get a failing grade and perhaps an angry lecture. All because my typewritten report threatens a way of life on whatever level.
Can you imaginge if, at the airport, they called the jetways, "boarding wings".
This kind of stuff is allover mechanics. Like blower motor. There's half a dozen things on a car that blow. You're just supposed to know that it refers to the one hooked up to the vents. Or that simply "the axle" is what is fixed when a CV joint goes bad.

I just saw 42 postings wanting unpaid game dev teams on usenet. All claimed to have the perfect game idea but needed programmers, artists, etc to make it. Royalties were to be split up after each respective games goes bigtime.
Really someone should write a book about the phenomenon. When people find out it takes longer than a week, they tend to give up.
