Nintendo is planning to launch a wireless controller, sold seperatly, with the Gamecube. It's going to be called the Wavebird, and it looks pretty much like the regular Gamecube controller, except that it's wireless and works from up to 30 feet away. IGN has some details.
Wireless controllers themselves are nothing new anyways in the third party world anyways.
That one had me believing too. I was fixing to freak out over it, until I reliezed what day it was and how good of a prank that'd be.
It's funny, the jokes about AOL accquiring things (like DalNet one or GAIM) are the ones that sound the most plausible. I'm not sure if it's because even mentioning AOL kills brain cells (aka it infects my brain to make it like an AOL user), or if it's because it's so easy to see AOL/Time Warner accquiring things left and right.
There is some paper/essay floating around the internet that explains why aliens would have to be communist (or is it capitalist?). It has to do with capitalists being too concerned with making money to explore the outlays of space, and only communists could bother with it or something. I'm sure someone reading this knows what I'm talking about...
I just hope Nintendo realizes that a large portion of gamers today are adults, and leaves the Pokemon crap off of this system.
Sorta off-topic, but maybe this will get some attention since it's fairly high up in the comments. It turns out that maybe Nintendo has heard games pleas and has alllowed a very "adult" game to be released for the N64.
A few days ago a very anticipated videogame by Rare, a second party to Nintendo, was released: Conker's Bad Fur Day. From the same company that brought you Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64, comes one of the most hilarious and "mature" games ever released. And on the Nintendo 64 platform too, which is known for its image of being "kiddie". Could it be, a very adult game on the "kiddie" system? Nintendo was still Nintendo however, as the official Conker BFD website attests, with it's multiple "MATURE" warning signs, and Nintendo only marketing the game so as to make sure it is pretty much only seen by people who are over 17; ie putting ads in Playboy and Maxim but not their own Nintendo Power, who won't even review it since it's read mainly be the 12-17 crowd. But the fact that Nintendo is letting this game be released on their system by one of their favorite developers shows that Nintendo isn't as tight-assed as everyone makes them out to be.
Anyways, it got a 9.9 from IGN and mainly I just wanted to point out that Nintendo (or at least one of hteir developers) can make games for adults too. Besides, have you ever played Pokemon? It's a damn good game, even if you are an adult.
I think I'd rather have a directional pad rather than analog control stick in a 2D game, which is what the GBA will mainly be used for. Also you would have to make the joystick really short and squatty if you didn't want it to get snapped everytime someone put it in their pocket.
I saw that show on the last day of drivers ed! The scary thing is like half the kids in the room thought it was plausable that cars are possessed. That definitly confirmed my belief that the minimum driving age should be raised to 18 so kids can mature more.
To me, by saying that standarized tests are biased against minorities, the NAACP is basically saying that how well I do on the SAT depends on the color of my skin. And then since I'm a minority, I must be stupid (so that the SAT hurts me compared to white people). And that is racism. It makes me mad that just because I'm a minority I am automatically deemed to need special treatment to compete against white people. I thought we wanted a color-blind society, not one that treats me different on account of my skin color.
As a Hispanic, I don't see how the color of my skin affected my SAT score. Now I can see how poverty and a broken home might affect an SAT score. But saying that just because I"m a minority the SAT is biased against me is racism.
SAT is a test most college bound junior/seniors take, and the score is used to apply to colleges. It has two sections, math and verbal (reading and vocabulary, no writing). The score is out of 1600, and I believe the national average is around 1,000.
The only "argument" relayed by the article in favor of eliminating the requirement for SATs was that it would increase the number of Blacks and Hispanics gaining admission. Although I am not a member of either of these communities, I suspect that if I were, I would find this argument highly insulting.
As a (half) Hispanic, I do find it semi-insulting that I'm automatically deemed "dumber" and that I need help to get into college just because of the color of my skin. I thought racism was supposed to be outlawed, but for some reason my skin color is supposed to directly affect how well I do on the SAT. It's fustrating sometimes. But I can't say it's all bad, as the Affirmative Action benifits are great!
In sports would you let coaches help determine the score of their own teams? Teachers should not be grading their own students except broadly by giving them recommendations and the like
But most teachers do not *give* their students grades, the students make the grades and the teacher reports them. When you take a test or do a worksheet in school, they do not arbritarily decide whether you got it right or not, it's based on if the answer is right or not. The only case I think of off-hand that the teacher can be subjective is writing assignments, but all in all I think they've been pretty fair to my writing (or lack there-of:) ability.
But Joe Sixpack doesn't give a damn whose fault it is, all he knows is that the page doesn't show up correctly in Netscape, but looks great in IE. So the obvious conclusion in his mind is "Netscape Suck, IE Good."
I was going to suggest that game too. You don't ever really "win" or "lose", except in versus mode, but yet there are tournaments and the such so it's obviously competitive.
Regardless of it's "summiness", I love that damn game!
their last console did horribly, and because of that, they stopped producing games for it soon after everyone bought it. Just like what's happening here.
Actually it's not. Sega has just stopped making consoles, but it's still making and selling games. They have confirmed at least 30 titles for the rest of the year.
Secondly, I have had no problems with my Dreamcast breaking (and I bought it 3 days after it was released in the US) nor have I heard of rampent reports of Dreamcasts breaking. The only console I've ever heard of breaking after a while is the Playstation.
And I've also had no problems getting games, VMU units, or controllers. They've always been at Best Buy whenever I needed them.
I can't say my experiances jive with what your describing. I am quite happy with my Dreamcast, and I'd still suggest people buy one just to play all the games already released and/or fixing to be released.
Yes, it will be released March 21, 2001 in Japan (and July in America). And there are already 2.7 million pre-orders for it, so needless to say it will sell incredibly fast.
Basically, this industry is doing what many others have done for many years, which is give to both parties, that way they are covered no matter who wins.
I would really suggest to people who wants to use ReiserFS to wait for kernel 2.4.1 and enjoy the benefits of bug fixes + ReiserFS in 1 complete stock kernel...
Now that you mention that, what exactly do I need to do to get 2.4.0 to work on my ReiserFS system? I'm using Mandrake 7.2, and I went with Reiser because I was sick of reboots messing up the filesystem. But now I've heard it makes installing new kernels a whole lot harder than with an ext2 filesystem. Is there a How-To page on installing kernels on ReiserFS? And when is 2.4.1 (with what you say will have ReiserFS support included) supposed to be released?
Of course, I'd be suprised if more than a handful of the people who watch Level 9 even have a clue of what Enlightenment is or that they can get it for their computer. Most probally just assume it's some docotored Windows screenshot or something that was just made up.
Cause Gnome look 1337 to all the Joe Sixpacs out there, which then helps establish the main character as a 1337 h4x0r. Everyone has already seen Windows.
I tried to watch the 6 PM showing of it, and on both CNN and Headline News, nothing about 2001 was on. CNN was talking about some celebrity and Headline News was going on about stocks. I didn't catch it right at 6:00, it was 6:07, but you'd think this series would be longer than 5 minutes. Or is the segment for the 2001 story really that short? Has anyone managed to catch it already?
Those that don't want to wear one only hurt themselves.
Yea, and what about all the taxpayers who have to pay for the brain surgery for the guy who didn't wear his seatbelt? Or the extra time the nurses/cops/doctors have to spend on a patient just because he got flung out of his car instead of remaining in it? It costs money you know, and I don't feel like paying for stupidity.
Same here. The odds of teaching Java at my school is pretty much nil. They have enough trouble just getting teachers with basic C knowledge. (and they dont' always succeed, like this year). Bad AP, Bad!

I updated Gnapster just fine without updating my kernel. It never said I had to do anything with the kernel to install it.
