MIGHT have been done to make benchmarks better but without the realization that it exposed a vulnerability. Often engineering projects are success-oriented, and once the chip was running all of the tests and benchmarks and the performance was good, that may have been as hard as anybody looked. You need to have people whose job it is to break all such new products, but that both costs more and delays the time to market, and executives rarely want either.
We get all bent out of shape when the NSA collects nearly useless phone records, and then give every secret in our lives to Facebook, Google, and Yahoo without a care!
In fact, I find that after the distractions of the office are gone, either because I am working at home or everybody has gone home, I can get a lot more done.
I bought every single SimCity title so far, and lots of other Sim-games.
I'm not buying this.
It's enough of a compromise to buy online content from someplace like Steam or GOG without also having a game that CANNOT be played offline. That's BS. If it needs a server, make a microserver for personal use.
And WORSE they can't even make it WORK? Utter crap, guys. If my professional product operated like that when it was deployed, I'd be out of a job.
Perhaps if you could identify where this was happening, it could be remediated by pumping in a slurry containing solids that would lock in place and resist leaching like coal ash and some kinds of sand?
I think the issue that needs to be faced is that it seems likely that Java is dead. As such, it seems unlikely to me that the interpreter will be maintained for much longer.
What are the options for a project like LibreOffice?

Start living up to this, Alphabet,
Though I see now that about 100,000 more votes made this a 5.0... That STILL needs to be fixed.
They own the database, they have the DBAs, they can fix this.

A computer monitor makes a great dumb TV. I use a Raspberry Pi with one as a media center.
...doesn't mean Mercedes is in danger.

When I get to work at home I work MORE hours than when I am in the office.

Any civil engineers care to comment on that?
One of the tools *I* need is a binocular inspection microscope.
