I agree, a similar case is smoking. Most adults doesn't really feel the need to lie about their smoking habits but they are sure as hell still addicted to smoking. You're not less addicted just because it is socially accepted.

Yes they where. Where the people involved made insensitive by games? Mostly likely no. Oh I might grant you that they may have got their modus operandi from the games but a person wacked enough to commit mass murder will be able to look at a toothbrush commercial and feel inspired.
So... before this pedestrian bridge, besides cutting a hole in the fence and running over the highway... what did a pedestrian need to do to legally and more importantly safely get to what ever is on the other side of the highway?

That's interesting, though it's anecdotal I do know of a multiple cases where kids with diagnosed ADHD has become better after switching to LCHF food. Ie they cut down on the sugar.
The only research paper I have read about in this area that disproves that sugar leads to hyperactivity was sponsored by the sugar industries...
Well I do actually. Partly because I prefer upgrading my computers in stages anyway but also because my wife is almost just as into computer (games) as I am. This means that whenever I do an upgrade all the prices are times two.
I actually bought a am2+ motherboard with and older model cpu just to be able to save some SEK and later be able to upgrade to an am2+ or am3 cpu.

I haven't tried using it on my ubuntu partition but on windows it is simply recognized as a network card. One would think that linux would be able to do the same. Of course there is always the risk that extra drivers would be needed. If they are and if they do exist for linux I don't know.
My phone has a standard GSM plan using GPRS, hooked up to the computer using a usb-cable. Not sure what phones and cell phone plans you have in USA but I would guess more or less every mobile phone in Sweden is able to do the same without any extra cell phone plans. It would never cross my mind sign up for anything extra just to be ready in case the internet should drop...
Some researchers published an article with an inflamatory title: "Charlatanry in forensic speech science: A problem to be taken seriously", and got sued for libel. This isn't about censorship or intellectual property laws, it's about a company protecting its image from mudslinging.

So even if they had wanted to they would not have been able to sue the scientists in Sweden
One workaround for the event that your internet drops is to hook up your mobilephone to the computer and run it as a modem for just as long that you need to go offline in steam. It's still annoying to be forced to do it but at least you can play
It's interesting how that depends on the environment. In the town I live in culture and especially music seems to be more popular than sports. It could of course be that I run in those circles but it seems like we have more concerts and theatres than our size should warrant.
One of my senseis on the same subject said: 1. Run away 2. Do not try to do any aikido techniques 3. Focus to do an aikido technique
The reasoning was that knifes are reaaaaly dangerous so your best bet is to just run. If you can't run it's better to just trust your training and the instincts you have built rather than plan ahead what the opponent will do. And in the last case it's better to do something than to be paralysed when you are attacked.
That said I believe the grandparent was talking about the "Monty Python Style" and no Aikido in regards to "Run Away".
Though I'm a bit biased due to being an Aikidoka I prefer the reflex to get out of the way than to try and block what ever is coming. Blocking is a bad reflex when the attack is a bus;)
On the other hand to say that your going to make a powerpoint presentation is more or less used in the same way that most people say that photo has been photoshopped when it has been manipulated. Regardless of what program was actually used. If you would have said "I have Gimped this photo" most people would look at you and say "WTF?!!" Though the sexual overtones are not present if you say "I have made an Impress presentation" most people would still not know what you mean.
Personally I would prefer Mr Nice Guy rather than someone who has already been proven a backstabber. Sure he _might_ be content to follow me up the ladder but what to say that he won't backstabb me when he starts to think that the promotions are going too slow?
