Wow.
I work in the second highest level of network support at Adelphia and I had no idea. Of course, there's just three guys or so that deal with the actual modems and their boot files. I'm going to point this out to the higher ups and see what can be done, methinks.
I'll bet it is slick, but I've been trying to download the damn thing for a week and the most I've gotten is the first 300k of it. Yes, I use mirrors. No, I'm too cheap to buy it.
I've been sitting waiting for the FreeBSD Sparc port for way too long. Not this is not a Sparc-64 or UltraSparc. I have about a metric ton of SparcStation 5 machines that desperately need release from the old old version of NetBSD that runs on them. If 1.6 is good enough, it's quite possible I can release the anger I have over FreeBSD and not join the Dark Side.
Whew.
I highly doubt that was the point. This law would prevent a user in England from sharing with a user in Japan, for example. I'm sure that's what the original post meant.
If AMD decided to sue someone for trying to use the letter 'D' as the third letter in their company acronym, the majority of/.'ers would be cheering them on. This favoritism for AMD is just a tad bit silly, doesn't one think? And don't tell me that this lawsuit is any more trivial than 95% of the suits in progress in the courts at any given time. If Intel wins, they win, if Intel loses they lose. Nothing will change, really. Wait! Maybe no one will be able to say 'inside' anymore! Maybe the open source community should revolt! Sheesh. Keep your pants on.

The Jedi Mind Trick surely could work wonders at McDonalds...unfortunately, at Wendy's they employ mainly Hutts.
Reading Microsoft's End User Agreement..."Software is provided as is." This means...they can patch it if they want, you can't sue them if they don't. If you continue to use said software even if it's got more bugs than the MIB can handle, that's tough.
As for open source, "As is" is very much implied before you even start using it. It's impossible for anyone to be at fault in either case, from a legal standpoint. Therefore, this story is completely bogus.
Funny, I had this rejected yesterday...same story. This also happened with my first submission...I send it and days later it appears under someone else's name.
Anyway...I'll enjoy my negative karma. Peace.
For those of you that have Adelphia's Powerlink service, watch out for this worm, it's all over our servers. I've been spending my last two days at work (at Adelphia) cleaning out thousands of messages with this thing in them. Just an FYI.
It almost makes me ill to read something like this...."Finally I have a legit reason to buy a PS2"...how about those of us that realize there are actually...games to play on the console? Not to mention the fact that it/is/ a console. Will I have a legit reason to buy a leafblower when someone finds a way to put Linux on it? I mean, come on. I run my domain on Linux boxes, and I play games on my PS2...imagine that. I'm sure this will end up being 'flamebait', but most of you need to get a grip on this stuff.

Eva:Well sort of but they all end up dead.
Trigun:Well sort of but Wolfwood ends up dead. I'm talking about Vash and Meryl, you know?:)
Cowboy Bebop: I woulda liked to seen that though.
Bubblegum Crisis: Watch the original, not 2040:) I haven't even seen 2040 it's soooo, well, ewww. At least remake my favorite series with characters that look like the old ones, ya know?:)
But good points, none the less.
No one. No one/ever/ gets/any/ of the chicks in mainstream anime. Ever seen Evangelion or Trigun? Cowboy Bebop? Bubblegum Crisis? They just tease you with the possibility for many many episodes. *le sigh*
I'm sure that they won't really discover anything about me, I'm not worried.

Ah well, I guess NetBSD is looking even better then. Live and learn.

I hope I don't need to say it, but.. http://www.ebay.com Ooooh I said it.

I see no one is allowed to express sarcastic opinions about Slashdot. I must go purchase an AMD and download every open source program I can find.

Step one : Unplug microphone.
Step two : If microphone is built in, turn the mic line off under the Sound controls.
Step three : Continue normally.

W00T!
Yes I have seen all of Trigun. No, I'm not wrong. Wolfwood is a main character but I referred to Vash and Meryl.
I fubar'ed the spoiler space. My bad. Unless you want to learn about the End of Eva and Trigun. Then it's not my fault
