Once openoffice has latex exporting support or import, as they said they're going to have in future releases, it's game over. i'll completely wipe out my M$office warez on my comp...
actually the firebird 0.7 RC1 is out.. it looks like the browser is getting slower and slower version by version. obviously this is inevitable with features continuously added in. it's mostly noticable in the linux version - ones with gtk+ antialiased fonts enabled.
when neo travels between all the parallel universeres and destroys his parallel self, he becomes stronger than ever he has become, making him self "The One".......uh wait, wrong movie. i thought Jet Li was supposed to be the one:D
you're right about xine. it plays pretty much everything - except a few wmp files here and there. just dont really understand why it hasnt been getting the 'publicity' as mplayer's been getting.
but for some reason mplayer isnt included in the debian distribution. (only a gtk frontend, but the player is no where to be found) i've been having problems setting xine's video browser plugins. i've heard it's really easy with mplayer. probably this has to do with mplayer being packaged with proprietary libs?
anyway if anyone knows an apt source to player and its plugin that would be great...

Mplayer Revisited

Let's hope the MPlayer guys don't ship their next release as version 9.0:P
actually, it wont. thanks for the clue michael has told us. this version v1.0 is named mplayer revisited. when the next verion comes out v2.0, it'll be called mplayer reloaded. within the same year, v3.0 will be out and named mplayer revolutions. in between each released version, we have v2.5 mplayer reloaded extended DVD edition, and v3.5 being reloaded extended DVD edition.
Dont forget animplayer, the game enter mplayer, the comic book to be released, and the new roleplayer game to be released!
oh right, that article too. the "recovery by Q2 next year" is in mp3. Looks like they just posted another mp3 few hours ago.

i'm one of the grads of B.Eng in yr 2001. thank goodness i did an 8-month internship in 2000 right in the peek. things started to tumble down, but us coops knew the company couldnt lay us off because we were interns and our contract was almost over. so it was bizzare seeing everyone leaving while knowing your job is perfectly safe - at the same time worry about finding one - because i graduated a year after that.
i did some master courses last year to test the waters - now i'm doing it. still having my parents helping me out financially. probably will be done within 1.5 years. what am i going to do next. i'm screwed. but come to think of it, if i can continue with a PhD - get government bursaries, TA for a course, and do some part time sys admin job, the I think i'll be able to eat and pay my rent.
i'm one of those who graduated in 2001 with a B.ENG. did some masters courses last year to 'test the waters' at the university and this year i'm doing masters. guess since i wont be done school for a bit, i've just been trying not to think about it.
what am i going to do when i'm done. PhD? well at least there's funding for PhD... maybe TA for a course or two and be able to feed myself. ultimately... eventually... we'll all have work.... one way or another.
well that's what they're saying on eetimes.com - that recovery is here and it'll be more noticable by the 2nd quarter next year. but whatever, those guys are always way optimistic about these things and writing such articles just to make us feel better.
lot of the courses can be found online, not just MITs. google.com/ is our friend. i guess MIT's one of the rare ones that's making it 'openly' online; free as in beer.
but thanks to the stupid webct system, profs are starting to put contents there and making it all protected.
of course you can argue that since the profs made those lecture notes and exams, it's his/her right whether to publish for the public...
how abuot the waves bouncing against the inner walls of the microwave? dont they cause inference with the wave just entering? the interference come in all directions and how is that able to have it 'in sync'... or all the nodes where it's supposed to be?

very HARD indeed. except it's not straining neck or eye when you're watching that reloaded orgy scene....
urgh... sarcasm
similarly, we'll go pay for CDs and pay for live concerts of the artists that are actually good.

does that mean in soviet union.... the matrix will be be shown at the same time? :D

that's right, they've crippled xine because of DeCSS...
because it's unpure for debian
doh, should have scrolled down the article...
/etc/apt/sources.list
Just add
deb http://marillat.free.fr/ unstable main
to
# apt-get install mplayer-686
That's it.

how abuot the waves bouncing against the inner walls of the microwave? dont they cause inference with the wave just entering? the interference come in all directions and how is that able to have it 'in sync'... or all the nodes where it's supposed to be?
kopete's still fine for me....
i havent been getting the upgrade messages from MSN now either
none of the above mentioned problems are there if you use debian unstable. unstable is more stable than any of the redhat releases.
installation is no longer a problem. just pop in knoppix, and run the HDD install script.
hehe good one
gotta love that scene when marty mcfly goes all crazy on the guitar... "your kids will like it"
which is exactly the type of reason why i'm using debian now instead of redhat
