good to hear someone stick up for the Santa Cruz, I bought one early on and it's a fantastic card. I wish it did EAX as well as the Creative cards, but it's all good.
I'd rather be a mere coder and keep my life than be a *string flourish* SOFTWARE ENGINEER!!! and be the kind of dork that reads shit like this.
Tech pays the bills for me, nothing more. I'm good at it and I used to love it, but now it's just a job. and I love THAT.

oh, fuck you, you pretentious cocksucker. At the end of the day software engineers and "mere coders" take home the same paycheck, so what the hell difference does it make?
I'd have my body and face completely reshaped into forms that no woman could resist. Let them come to me.

stop being so freaking idealistic. The real world can't handle diversity. It's a matter of the lesser of two evils, in every part of life - for president, for which corporation you work for, and for software. If you have to have a monopoly -- and we do now that computers are a commodity -- wouldn't you rather have one that had some substance underneath all the flash??
Personally I'm to the point now where I'm so sick of Microsoft hegemony that I don't care if RedHat engages in similar predatory practices as long as MS goes down. I'll support RedHat even if they were a monopoly, because at least the technology inside is good and it's not MS snake oil.
what if you make enough money, don't care to make more, and are appalled at the thought of ever setting foot in another place where you pay people to take up your free time with useless shite?
I've always thought of my tech career as just a day job anyway. It's a good-paying day job, and I have no interest in furthering my formal education. One of these days I'll be in business outside of the tech sector and much happier anyway, it's just a matter of straightening out my finances first.
if they can write a new GUI for Unix, then why they hell can't they support two or 3 mouse buttons if you want them?

didn't Alan Moore use some abandoned Golden Age characters as the basis of the heros in Watchmen?
Sorry, I sold my balls for $55,000 a year and a good benefits package.
"you're either with the Linux Revolucion or You Are Against It! Viva Torvalds! Ay ay ay!"
The X-Box should have been called the Y-Box, as in..
"Why, Microsoft?"
"Why should I want one?"
damn it, why did you have to post this after I blew all my mod points on the Janis Ian story?
Madonna started her own label. She has signed acts like Deftones and Alanis Morrissette.
Other than her.. hmm, you're right.

1) water maser emissions? Geez, what's next, they can smell it from here?
2) how far away are these planets? Are they far enough away that by the time these "maser emissions" get to us that the water is gone?
