The problem with a sniffer virus like this is that it can sniff network data that comes from any OS, not just the infected one. So in this case this Windows only virus is a bad thing for Linux users as well (assuming the Linux users are sending plain-text passwords and the like).
Quantum computing, which holds the promise of nearly unlimited processing power, secure communications and the ability to decode encrypted conversations by terrorists and others, is a significant step closer to becoming a reality today with new research published by a team of UCLA scientists in the journal Nature.
So which is it, secure communications or communications that can be spied on? It can't be both.
I agree, bike riding is much more fun. If I have my calculations correct I get about 33mpg on my 1500cc Suzuki Intruder. It's a bit of a gas guzzler. (That's about 150km using 13 litres). It's much faster too, especially if you have quite a bit of congestion (as we do here in Auckland).
Evolution has this feature as well. I'm sure anyone internet savvy and aware of the spam problem would have a mail reader that prevents remote images from being displayed - which renders this service useless.
Believer says, "Faith is a Law." (Proof ???) Athiest says, "Faith is not a Law." Agnostic says, "There are things in the world we do not fully understand. Faith addresses these things. Until someone proves or disproves what Faith implies I refuse to form any more of an opinion."
I don't disbelieve in deities either, but I don't believe in them which makes me an atheist.
If I ask you the question "do you believe in any deities" and the answer was "no" then you are, by definition, an atheist. You may also be an agbostic but that's beside the point (as you say that is about knowledge, not belief).
I disagree that atheism requires faith. What some call "strong atheism" requires faith but by the actual meaning of atheism (i.e. without theism) then no belief is implied, hence no faith.
Atheism is about lack of belief, not belief of lack - a subtle but important difference.
Completely off topic, but I disagree. If you don't belief in any deities then you are (by definition) an atheist. If you do belief in any then you are, by definition, a theist. These two terms are mutually exclusive (because of the "a"). You must be one or the other.
An agnostic, on the other hand, doesn't think it is possible to know whether deities exist.
So it is quite plausible to be an agnostic theist as well as an agnostic atheist.
(Though I admit there is not much point in word definition debates as they hardly ever end with agreement).
I live in a first world country that is not the US of A. I fully support the standard of living and household income "averaging out" around the world. That has the benefit of improving that living conditions of those in poor countries and the disadvantage of decreasing the living conditions of those in rich countries. There are a lot more of the former than the latter, which is why I support it.
From a global perspective it is A Good Thing (TM).
I can understand why those in richer countries disagree, but in my opinion it is from a selfish standpoint rather than a "good for humanity" standpoint.
It's not the same type of p2p network as Kazaa at all
In the sense that bittorrent is merely a transfer tool, not a searching tool as well. Some sites provide searching capabilities but that isn't an inherent part of bittorrent.
Regardless though, if you download copyrighted content (that you don't have a license to use) you are most likely also uploading that content - which is where other legal issues arise.
So you don't disagree that I told it like it is? Don't you find it mildly concerning that this sort of thing happens, and the vast majority of the US population has no idea?
That a country that is supposed based on democratic principles is not doing very well in living up to them? Wasn't is GWB that said yesterday that he will try and amend the constitution to ban same sex marriages, and is the very next sentence he said this was for "democracy". Huh? Does he even know what that means?
I'm not saying that the general populace agrees with him, just that the general populace isn't aware of how corrupt the system they live in is.
..how the hell do you think the US got to be the richest country in the world
..by keeping most of the north of South America and middle American countries like Haiti poor. By inserting paid for rebels into such countries to ensure strife and general unrest, and for what purpose? To have a lot of very cheap labour for US companies to take advantage of.
And don't get me started on the Afganistan oil pipeline, the connection between Bush senior and Sadaam and the general bias the media has about such matters.
Just because you have a bunch folks out in the community that have the access to look at open-source product means that, by default, it will be more secure or higher quality.
Shouldn't there be a "doesn't" in there somewhere, or is he arguing FOR open source?
I run KDE (3.1 admittedly) on a P3 450, a P4 2.4GHz and a dual P3 866. I use the P4 at work and the dual P3 at home. The dual P3 is MUCH more responsive than the P4, Konqueror opens in less than half a second, while on the P4 it can take up to 3 seconds. This is using mandrake 9.2.
It is not free is I have to purchase a Windows license to use it. And it is not truly free if I don't have access to the source and the file formats.

If you are concerned about something health related the best advice I can give is DON'T LOOK ON THE INTERNET and see a doctor. Doctors vists are a great way to get piece of mind, which IMO is well worth the cost/hassle.
Reading the article headline I assumed they were referring to the country, not the state. Anyone else make that assumption?
That would be a good thing, IMO.

Arre yoo reelie shore yoo want the langwidge to evolve lyk that?
I sure as hell don't. Unambiguous written communication requires correct grammar and spelling.

Why not take it a step further and use Linux? I do and haven't looked back.

That all depends on what operating system you use.
Nearly right. Try this:
Believer says, "Faith is a Law." (Proof ???)
Athiest says, "Faith is not a Law."
Agnostic says, "There are things in the world we do not fully understand. Faith addresses these things. Until someone proves or disproves what Faith implies I refuse to form any more of an opinion."

What error was that again?
And after that we'll be looking for the tooth fairy and trying to find the lost city of Gondolin.

Is it just me or is the world of developers getting younger? No offense to Nat but it looks like he'd have trouble getting into an R16 movie.
