For starters, normal people don'[t install OSs. The machine they buy at WorstBuy has Windows. Unless they buy a Chromebook or wander into the Apple section.
Many people use Windows software, like games, MS Office, Quicken. Gnucash isn't Quicken, and Libre Office isn't MS.
And if they need help, there are fewer Linux people to ask, many of whom have a "RTFM n00b" attitude, compared to tons of Windows people to ask.
My understanding is that many debit cards have the same protections as credit cards. However, in a fraud case, you're fighting to recover your money vs the bank's on the credit card, and if the account that got zapped was your bill-paying account, or worse, your only account, you'll be in for fun times until the bank sorts everything out.
Who pays for personal banking services any more? Business accounts I could see but I can't remember the last time I paid a fee for any type of personal bank account.
You're probably "rich". Once my GF was complaining about her bank fees and I was about to mention that I didn't pay fees, but then I remembered that the bank DOES charge fees. I just had enough in the account that I didn't get charged.
I read one story (not by Asimov, but had his 3 laws) where only the ruling class was considered "human". The serfs weren't, and could be harmed or killed by robots.

My 32" set is "dumb" but it's about 5 years old. Even then I was hearing that it was hard to avoid "smart" sets. Sounds like it's getting worse.
Worse, the pill (tablet) OS is really just a glorified phone OS, originally meant for a 4 inch screen!
