Do you have any idea what a "gravity tug" or "gravity tractor" is? I have the primary component of one in my back yard - a big fuckin' rock. Use the mass of the rock to change the course of the larger mass of the asteroid. Newtons law care of high school physics.
Wow! You must have a big honking back yard. I'm reasonably sure none of the rocks in my yard would have any effect on any asteroid big enough to worry about.
And getting a rock that large into space and in just the right place to have the desired effect is at least as theoretical as blowing it up with a nuke.
gmail IS my real email. My ISP email was a spam bucket when I got it, and I haven't been on it for so long that I don't even remember my username/password. Though I do agree that yahoo and hotmail should probably be banned.
* Anecdote: At one of the elementary schools near where I work, the children are not allowed to run, at all. A child ran, fell, and broke his arm. There was nothing the school could have done about it, but the parents sued anyways. Hundreds of thousands of public tax dollars later, the school decided that the only way to prevent liability was to disallow running.
I think that school should be sued for promoting childhood obesity.:p
Meh! In my day, I walked miles to school. In knee-deep snow! Downhill, both ways! Admittedly, I didn't have to worry about highways, but dodging angry T-Rexes isn't much better.
Microsoft is at fault for claiming the Vista would "run" on 512M RAM on a crap machine.
HP, of course, is well-known for its own crapware.
Frankly, that's the good thing about Apple, IMHO. Not only is OSX better than Windows in several respects, but Apple totally kicks the butts of HP/Dell/Gateway (though you do pay for such quality).
Tell that to my mom's neighbor, who almost died when her quack gave her 4X the intended dosage of a blood-thinner.

The problem is, those are all forigners. Now, if this guy had a nice American name like me, he wouldn't have had a problem.

if we couldn't snoop on our cow-orkers email, the Terrorists (tm) would win!

I dunno. It smells more like Jar-Jar than Jedi to me.
IIRC, it was TurboTax, not Quicken. Same company, different product.
That's like saying a Model-T isn't ancient because it's newer than the horse-and-buggy.
If a website doesn't support 10-20% of potential visitors, it's broken. If the designers did it on purpose, then their brains are broken.
Wouldn't that be more of an anti-social networking site?
Really? I'd think the percentage of /.ers who use MyFace or SpaceBook would be smaller than normal.

Well, duh! Why do you think they invented a Time Machine?
That has less to do with the stability of Microsoft, and more to do with the flimsiness of Microsoft's chairs.
And if that had been true when Vista came out, there probably wouldn't BE a "Mohave Project" now.

And when Vista came out, many new PCs were still shipping with 512M RAM. Particularly the bargin PCs that Mr. Sixpack tends to buy.
It also says something about the fools that were running against him.
The guy got married! Clearly, the best man wasn't holding the rope right. :)
It's my opinion that the people who commit murder/suicides are doing it in the wrong order. They should commit the suicide first.
Yup! And once the other idiot has dragged you down to his level, he can beat you with experience. :-P
Great! Did they say what year?
I did a study on cellphone's causing brain damage, and I concluded that 100% of the cellphone users I saw had brain damage.
Unfortunately, I didn't observe them BEFORE they began using cellphones.
I once made the comment that Microsoft was Firefox's marketing arm. Most of the switchers I know switched after some IE security flaw hit the press.
