Realism aside, there's another good thing about Iron Man. He got his powers on purpose. He wasn't accidently bitten by a spider, and he didn't go into space with crappy shielding. He built his armor. He really IS a self-made superhero.
If I were an Apple lawyer, I would allow Psystar to sell their boxes, but since it needs a hacked OSX, they would have to rename it the Psystar Operating System to avoid tainting the Mac brand. Then anyone who wanted to buy the POS computers could do so and know just what they're getting.
Or just don't allow guns? I've got a phone. If anyone breaks into my place, I have a choice of the police (station is 5 minutes away), or neighbours in the apartments around me (8 football-player sized guys within two minutes). Maybe I'm just lucky living somewhere that has more of a respect culture than a fear culture?
I live about 5 minutes from a police station too, but it still takes them 15-60 minutes to get here on a 911 call. An intruder could do a lot of damage in 15-60 minutes. As for your 8 football players, I assume the criminal's gun has at least 8 bullets.
The Prime Directive applies when an advanced culture encounters a more primitive one. While I think there is alien life out there, I seriously doubt that we'll find anyone more primitive than us.
People have been shot for being on the SO list. If your incompetence lets someone put me on the SO list and I get shot, can my family come after you? That's a question society will need to answer sooner or later.
Keep in mind that it might not have been the developer's fault. Maybe the bosses wanted it done ASAP, and ordered the devs to rush it through without testing.
They probably wanted something that runs on hardware that's less than 2 years old.

Consider yourself lucky. Not only did my sister recommend suicide, but she even offered to write the note for me.
Tim Berners-Lee? Never heard of him. Everyone knows that Algore invented the Internet.
I think, if she HAD him commit suicide, it wasn't an accident.
He had a lawyer, and the lawyer told him to STFU. He didn't listen.
And was one of the easiest things that Microsoft has ever done.

And, can you picture the reaction of a Christian grandmother when her computer flashes the BSD devil at her?

For Slashdot, this is current news.
Well, we ARE talking about Microsoft.
Which proves what I already suspected. My snoring is worse than an earthquake!
Meh, you kids are so spoiled. Stone tablets and chisels were good enough for me, they should be good enough for you too.
IMO, the difference between Repubs and Dems is that they disagree about how they want to screw us. Either way, we're still screwed. :(
Don't forget Britany/Hilton/OJ. They're good for a quick distraction.
I'd classify Ron Paul as a RINO. He's officially a Republican, and he ran as a Republican, but his positions are really Libertarian.

Somehow, I don't think forcing sex offenders to be homeless makes the community safer. Stupid lawmakers!
I wish I could mod you up. As far as I'm concerned, using the SSN to authenticate people is like me using "Cro Magnon" as my /. password.
Unless you live in your mom's basement.
Aside from Apple's EULA, I can see Apple having some legitimate objections to a cheap non-Apple computer with the name "OpenMac".
I was told that Microsoft had a monopoly on POS systems. Which definition did they mean?
Unless Monsanto's GM seeds blow into my Amish-like field and contaminates it. They have been known to sue over that.
