Yeah, it would be nice if American drivers kept to the right. Awhile back I was driving in the right lane at about 60 MPH (the speed limit was 55), and came up on a truck in the middle lane. It had a sign the said "Don't pass on right". The only problem is, it was barely doing 40! So my only options were to slow to a crawl, pass on the right, or try to cross 2 lanes and probably get creamed by the cars doing 70+. I said a bad word and passed on the right.
It's not even limited to the "developing world". My mom is totally offline; no computer, no internet, no cellphone. She does occasionally ask me to order something online that she heard about on the radio, but that's it. My GF isn't much better; she has an email, but doesn't use it much, and no facebook.
The President himself sabotaged that possibility by accusing doctors of performing unnecessary amputations, which besides depicting surgeons as being suitable for the leading roles in either "Little Shop of Horrors" or "Sweeney Todd", is nonsensical because amputations actually are relatively inexpensive.
I'm in my 50s with no problems. But eventually it will be in issue. Hopefully not at 62 like the above poster, but what about 72. Or 82. Heck, I might still be alive at 92. At that point, I'd probably be ready for a self-driving car.
Also, in a random digression, I don't think a good technical boss necessarily HAS to be good technically. S/he just has to be able to listen effectively to the people who ARE good technically--which is something s/he should be doing even if s/he IS good technically. A boss who doesn't listen is in my opinion worse than a boss who is ignorant, knows it, and respects the experts s/he supervises.

A similar thought. Can a boss remain good technically? Most of my bosses used to be tech people, presumably reasonably good at their jobs. But when they got promoted to the big chair, they were kept busy with boss-stuff, and their tech-skills fell behind.
No, but the history and experience of blacks in the US is very different from those other groups. When is the last time anyone moved to the other side of the street to avoid an Asian guy?
I expect the people who have been mugged by Asian gang bangers, or know people who have, will cross the street to avoid them.
#1 & #2: I interact with most of my RL friends and family in person. Most of them aren't even ON FB, and the ones that are are more likely to phone or email.
#3: My GF isn't on FB. She has no interest in FB, and though she did make a comment when I admitted to "friending" a girl I knew in High School, she took my word that there hadn't been anything between us in years.
#4: That is the only reason I'm still on FB. My neighborhood crimewatch group is on FB, and it's the fastest way to keep up with who's been shot this week. I seldom leave the crimewatch page to go anywhere else on FB anymore.
I have two concerns about the Surface Pro 3. The big one is price. Last I looked, it was still a pretty pricy machine. Also, I had the chance to play with the RT and the keyboard was total crap! Does the Pro 3 have a decent keyboard? It would need to be MUCH better than the RT one I tried.
I actually gave TW the axe long before Google Fiber existed. Their TV was okay, but I'd already ditched their 3rd rate, crashy internet, so there was nothing stopping me from jumping to DirecTV, which at the time had the only multi-tuner DVR out there. I switched from that to GF, but lately I'm been spending as much time watching Netflix as watching regular TV.
I have a finite amount of free time, and I divide that time between TV, reading, internet, and whatever. There's a whole bleepload of stuff on my DVR that I don't watch, and know I probably won't see it before it gets bumped off for lack of space. But, I don't care because when I do want to watch something, I've got lots of choices.
People are constantly pissed about vending machines that stopped accepting Wallet as soon as ISIS support was added. Partly because they still don't have any way to use ISIS, but more because they can't use their preferred method (Wallet) at those machines.
Yeah, I can see them yelling for someone's head over that.
You are using a third party tool. That negates your view of win8. You openly admit the UI is so shit you have to installed something else from someone else to make it usable.
Metro is certainly shit, but even without third party tools, Win 8.1 isn't too bad. I just boot to the desktop, use mostly desktop software, and seldom go into Metro. OTOH, you could still say the same about me as the above poster, namely that it's only useable because I'm avoiding Metro.

Or, his SO talks to the DOG.
To be fair, I have no problem with them burning down the McDonald's. Don't know about the pizza place, some of those are pretty crappy.

I dunno. I heard they cost an arm and a leg.
Which is a strong argument for mandatory police cameras. Without the dashcam, it would have been the black guy's word against the cop's.

I agree with the first 3. The problem with #4 is, some people are MORE likely to act like idiots on camera.

We promise, cross our hearts, not to abuse your privacy. And we don't need to put it in writing, because you know we're totally trustworthy. Honest!
They probably taught him, but he didn't listen.
It's a common saying; when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

The problem is, just about everything that comes out of a politicians mouth IS a commercial.
I've made the remark that the people who would snap playing video games should probably stay away from TV newscasts. Those can be pretty damn violent.

OTOH, maybe an Android knock-off would work better than Excel, on a tablet.
who read the headline as "Shit Work Dulls Brain Performance"?

It's good to know that the Church's beliefs are evolving.

I see no way CurrentC will be anything but a steaming flop! There's no way I'm giving them my bank info.
