Can I use my DSL Modem, Router, or Cable Modem with my Verizon Fios Internet Service?
No, at this time you need to use a broadband router specifically provided by Verizon that has been approved to work specifically with Verizon Fios Internet Service. Your router also contains special diagnostic software that can help us troubleshoot and correct problems should you experience trouble with your Internet connection.
Hmm... so I can't even control what's inside my house? Why? What if I want to ensure my home network (which computers with personal data is on) are secure? Quite a few found the default password for the linksys modem's... etc etc.
What if I want to setup some port forwarding etc.?
What if my company issues me a special router for access to within their network?
The good side of this: will force companies like comcast to offer higher speeds to stay competitive. Wouldn't mind if 3.5 becomes 5Mbps.
Ok, maybe not... but I'd personally write a little script to automate my voting if he had an option to 'sit home, masturbate while on the phone with DC'.
I just hope it would work via PKCS#11, or some similar technology. And it worked on all platforms/browsers. Not just some ActiveX object.
Would be awesome to be COPPA compliant with an easy method like that.
Heck I'd even support a bill to deploy some technology like that federally.
I could see many uses: 1. bars, cigarette sales would be easier 2. Online
Perhaps they could adopt something with fingerprint recognition built onto it. So your fingerprint authenticates as well... just in case it's stolen or lost.
IMHO It's just more lax production quality standards.
I *think* there are more dead pixels per 1000 units now than there were just a few years ago. I don't know many with an LCD that didn't ship with one. All brands. I don't remember that just a short while ago.
I personally would perfer some better quality. Ideally give me a choice: 0 dead pixel guarantee and I'll pay extra. If I don't care, I'll take the damaged goods and pay less.
I just don't think it's fair to be paying so much for damaged goods. These dead pixels are annoying. And you often need several to qualify for a replacement, regardless of position on the screen.

After pestering employees with these damn things, AOL thought it would be wise to charge customers for the same pain in the ass.
I hate these stupid things. Keep them on your keychain, and you know it's going to break, and your going to have login problems. Don't keep it on your keychain, and you know you'll forget, and be unable to login. No matter what, you loose.
I won't say they are ineffective, since they do work. But they are the biggest pain in the butt.
Couldn't stand having it. What a drag.
Oh, and guess how many people loved using AOL mail in the workplace: None. Can you imagine this sinaero:
You sign on, do your work, leave for the day. Come back in, and AOL for some reason signed you off (happens every so often). Uh Oh... forgot the SecurID... no email for the day!

I bought it for the following reasons: - Good cost per MB - Fast - Great rebate offer at the time - DURABLE! This thing looks a little bulky, but it's rock solid. Thick plastic, really solid. Unlike any other I've seen so far.
I never used the security stuff. IMHO not worth it. But having such a durable, fast, cheap device was more than worth it to me.
I don't regret my purchase. It's a solid product. I'd still recommend it.
The reason why is Apple's Mac OS X requires Apple ROM.
I'm pretty sure at some point, someone's going to come up with either a hack for Mac OS X, or a way to fake out via some open source ROM.
I'd bet it takes some serious skills... but it's bound to happen.
And Apple's DMCA lawyers will be all over it.
Someone will still attempt it, because it would be one hell of a feat. I'm curious if PearPC might be moving towards that direction slowly.

The one thing I hate about oldschool video games is the music. After hours of playing it would stick in your head... and wouldn't go away.
After weekends of playing Super Mario Brothers 1, I'd be walking to the bus stop sideways, croutching to see if I can go down a manhole, and jumping up the steps of the bus.... with that damn tune in my head.
My principle at the time also looked like Bowser, so that didn't help at all.

Other languages should be scared.
VB and Windows are popular because they are easy and quick.
If I could use this to easily write/compile (for free), software tha tran on Linux, Windows, and Mac...
guess who would unleash a new programing era?
The key here is cross platform. Like RealBasic, but free.
Mozilla Firefox built a lot off of that.
Organizations love standardization. Netscape offered that. Now Mozilla Offers that. But VB keeps them in windows.
remove VB...
and Linux has disarmed another problem attempting to kill it.
... and is hosting the webpage linked in the article... because the server is that slowww....

It would be funny if they install SETI@Home, and that weak machine finds ET's signal...
oh how the AMD kiddies will cry.
Friends don't let friends download and drive.
Software Crashes take lives.
Next time you download... run a virus scan or wipe your hard drive.
Just 1Kb is enough to kill.
Microsoft Announced they will start charging per Level 1 Cache bank.
Where, in the real world, do you find code this bad? This isn't even HTML... it's more like random characters.

big suprise.

Fast, and it does just that: blocks this crap from ever being installed. It's easy to use too.
I keep it installed on all my comps. And so far, it's proven to be very effective.
does anyone else smell some PearPC code behind all this?
That would be my bet. A nice installer.
Oh there's tons of others, but I'm lazy, perhaps if I'm bored I'll come back later and document them all.

What's next? Respecting the constitution?
It never ends.

A projector would be best, but a TV adapter may help too.
Hook the computer up so you use the TV as a screen. It's not as high quality as a good monitor of course, but would be easier for the kid to see.
A projector would be more expensive... but would provide even greater benefit.
we call it 'great adventure', *not* 'six flags' like the rest of the world.
Why? Because we freaken like it like that... got it?

Brilliant.

For once I actually want taxes: Tax spammers. Why not? They are commercial, and marketing. Why not tax them?
