Is it for AOLTW labels only, or are they partnering with the RIAA to offer this service to all the labels?
Or will it also be accessible to small bands who want the publicity?
Sounds to me like it will be ineffective.
Bands/labels should set their own prices. So if a band wants the free pr... they could offer free, content... if they want it to be a distribution point.. they set the price... and compete for us to buy.
Don't drop the soap.... For God's sakes, don't drop the soap little Digi'... Don't drop the damn soap... It will render you senseless until the day you die!
Oh yea: Invest in stocks like Amazon, Yahoo, Apple, Sun, just pull out by the year 2000.
To me it looks like they are renaming the line (by making a slight mod) so that they can introduce something more expensive as their mid level product.
"Hey there ____, would you like to help get me off"
- No
"Why don't you pitch your product while I undress"

"Mmm that's better.... Now what are you wearing? Or not wearing?"
- excuse me!
"Ohh, Ahh..... Yes! Yes!"

Sun needs to focus it's business. IMHO they should focus on mini mainframe systems. Dell, Compaq, and Apple are taking the low end. Sun can't compete where they stink.
Sun has very high grade hardware. Reliable, and proven. They should stick to that.
To many markets spreads a company to thin.
Even the OS should stick to being high end, industrial product. Don't make solaris for everyone. Everyone doesn't need it. Redhat, et. al. have that end covered.
And Java could use a good overhaul. Make it more capable, rather than frozen in time like it appears now.
I would be more than willing to participate if someone were to start a business with the RIAA to allow us to buy individual songs online in a copyright protecting format (provided compression keeps it small, and sound quality CD or better)...
The technology is out there, many have demo'd the ability already. What we need are a few to start partnering up, and battling for our love.
Guess it's partially the recession that people don't want to start these risky dot com businesses, but I think it has a chance.
I would gladly pay a small price for a digitial copy of a song I liked, so that I can get the song, not the entire album that sucked.
Would also like to see a system implemented where bands official fanclubs can get discounts on that bands music, the ability to purchase for download high quality video (so that we can burn them to DVD)...
There are endless posibilities, if someone had the confidence to go out and implement the technology rather than just showcase.
It's stylish, despite the fact that most would have it sitting in a rack, in some datacenter, far from eyes. But it's still metalic, pretty, smooth, and clean.
If you need to be downloading more than 1GB per day, you can afford to upgrade to a business service. It's that simple.
I am online all day, download a build of Mozilla daily, often large games, even play games online like Unreal and Americas Army. And my laptop only logs a few gigs a month. Not to mention I watch streaming video on occasion (including all of MacWorld).
This only effects those who are downloading movies and excessive music.

What if some home networking company came out with a cheap proxy server like device to stand directly before the NAT device. Perhaps with say some ROM for OS/Proxy software, and 256 MB RAM (expandable) to act as a virtual disk for storing cashed content... would be nice.
Computers --> NAT--> Proxy--> Internet
Think it would solve this?
Secondly, would be a real convient device. I would want one, provided it were affordable.

Could it be that one of those old chips or drives conked out at the wrong time? I had an original IBM PC with an '086. It just died on me suddenly. Bad timing is all that's needed.
The shuttle had a new glass cockpit, but old electronics otherwise. They worked, and were expensive to replace, so it's done in stages.

The DNS system is pretty buggy... Propigation time, only a few servers... not exactly perfect... good, but not great.
I wish they would start work on a replacement. Perhaps *more* of a p2p approach among ISP's. And more rapid updating, so changes take effect faster.
I think technology on the net is so much further than DNS allows us.
Sad, no T665 was listed. Great little device. Small, sleek, powerful, great display. And for $299, can't go wrong. It's an MP3 player too.
Great hardware.
Yummy. Who doesn't like the taste?

If they still don't hang up:
"PERVERT!"
Works every time.
If the Green Berets use Redhat as part of a war (borg like) body suit... will they still be the Green Beret? Or the Red Hats?

Just curious. Are they using WEP? Is that what they are trying to keep secret?
How much did it cost to figure this out?
Please tell me it cost less than it did to develop the square watermellon. Or Windows XP. Both useless products.

This could be bad for those like me who run a few machines where your supposed only run 1. This could really stink.
I would think NAT producing companies would be quick as the company who figures out another way, gets the market.
If this were to hapen in the US, they would say "spam isn't really an issue these days" and no spam laws...
Boy would that be bad. Slow progress, is better than "no problem at all".
Lets push for a "no spam filter for Congress until Congress passes a no-spam law"
Then again, wouldn't be needed if enforced.
Couldn't agree with you more... But if the media doesn't give him all this airtime, they will be anti-semites... Can't have that now.
Dr. Chawla's story is the better story. Much more hard work and dedication on her part. She worked 100% for where she got.
It's safe to say Ramon's nationality turned him from a successful Israeli pilot to astronaut.
