  1. Jamming? Wait a minute... on Cell-Phone Wars · · Score: 1

I was under the impression that most communication technologies (like cellphones) used frequency hopping over a spread spectrum for more security and also to avoid jamming.

    Am I missing something here?

  2. Another Similar Site on TeacherReviews.com Forced Offline · · Score: 1

For those who are still itching to post, there's always www.ratemyprofessors.com.

I've used these reviews before as a guide, but never to make a final decision whether or not I want to take a class with a professor. It seems more likely that a person will post comments because they're upset and just want to complain.

    Not very different than Slashdot.

  3. Funded by Reality Television on Europe Joins Race To Send Humans To Mars · · Score: 2, Funny

I mentioned this once before, but a while ago my friend and I were discussing about the feasibility of a Mars mission, and he suggested that NASA should get funding by selling the rights for a reality television series.

I don't know how well it would work, but if you put a promiscuous woman astronaut on that mission, the bidding war for the show would be insane.

Here at BU, we have this program called the Late Entry Accelerated Program LEAP where people with non-engineering degrees can get their masters. As far as I can tell, most people in LEAP start off in a few essential undergrad classes, then go pretty quickly onto the Master's track, not wasting any time.

I think our engineering program is pretty good. Our Photonics Center was just recently built (1996) so we attracted tons of exceptional professors but still have some pretty bad ones. We have some nice labs too. I think it's worth checking out, especially in a few years.

Here's the main page for our College of Engineering.

Suffice to say, the teacher had many problems closing the window, even after restart.

With some luck, Embrio could hit it big and help change transportation, but they have to wait until we're ready for it. Remember, invention is like 50% timing.
