Try grapeseed oil - can get it at your local asian market, has a very high smoke point, it's quite healthy, and imparts very little flavor - but just enough to taste in something very mild like tofu - and it tastes good!
I agree, but welcome to the modern pop music movement. More and more is just "loud and obnoxious" and "artists" (you know who I'm talking about, and why I'm using quotes) are striving to produce albums that are strings of loud obnoxious crud. Your fears might be justified, but what might happen is that the folks that insist on making real quality music (genuine artists will always exist) may get marginalized by the loud and obnoxious pay-4-singles market to the point where they have to nearly give the stuff away. Perhaps not so hot for them, but a boon for those not brain-washed by the loud and obnoxious market. While I certainly wouldn't say so in front of my artist friends, maybe the starving artist model of yore ain't such a terrible thing in light of the big existential picture - I at least prefer it to the disgustingly rich and egotistical model we've got going now. Consider music on NPR or public radio vs. music on commercial radio. IMHO it tends to be much denser in terms of quality, and the music being played often does not have the big price-tag that commercial radio has. All and all, I think we (and more importantly the recording industry) need to recognize that the current model is broken; let's welcome and promote change and the accessibility of truly good (whatever that may be to any individual) music. I really do trust that the market will take us somewhere better with this one if only the RIAA will open their arcane, restrictive floodgates.
not sure how good of an idea that would be for moving parts of a HD. Local pressure and viscosity changes in response to temperature, as well as dealing with fluid dynamics of movement or shock might interfere with plate-head movements critical to data storage/retrieval.
"And they sure as hell won't hype some crap song even for money."
pinko commie bastards that won't play crap for money?! That makes me sick!
Every red-blooded lover of free trade should play crap for money, and for more money they should eat crap, and for even more money they should dance to the sound of this crap in a very sexual and stereotyped fashion!
now if that's not phraseology worthy of a constitutional amendment, I don't know what is.
because if Chuck Norris were on an aluminum airplane he could go out on the bent wing and bend it back, but if he were on a carbon fiber airplane he would just shout, "I've got nothing to work with here assholes!" shoot everyone on the plane, jump out the window, knit a parachute out of his sweater on the way down and land topless on a throng of adoring Laotian women.
I agree, but I think that digital communication networks should be provided just as postal and roadway communication networks are. Sure it would probably suck, but at least it could help prevent companies from monopolizing the networks, and you could always choose a private network if there were things you wanted that the government infrastructure failed to provide.
The clustering of scores for different industries sound pretty tight with a range of 64-77. I dug around just a little, but didn't find any descriptives. Anyone able to figure out what the confidence intervals are? I'm a little skeptical about there being a real difference between some of these ratings.
nah, there are enough people imagining this sort of garbage. Let's try studying it instead. MRI uses huge magnetic fields that researchers are exposed to on a daily basis and there is no solid data that it causes biologic harm. All waves that are invisible are not Roentgen's, let's be prudent rather than luddite.
No, it doesn't have a cord - even better than that it has an 'off' button, or did you really not know that?
Yeah and you can always just cover your ears when you don't want to hear someone talking to you, but such behavior is generally frowned upon. For the most part once you have a cell phone and are using it for your own convenience you are largely expected to be accessible for others in return. Try sitting in front of your boss text-messaging someone and then not answering his series of 5 phone calls while you're on your way to the airport an hour later. You better have a long list of good excuses to maintain the ability to block such calls.
Sure, one could argue that people will be upset with your inaccessibility if you don't have a cell phone, but in my experience most people eventually accept this eccentricity much better than feeling like you're ignoring them when they know you have a phone.
funny, must be a generation gap thing - when I was young my Dad told me the RIAA ate children my size and used their bones to make soup, and that if I didn't shut my mouth and clean my room that the RIAA would come for me.
except when you eat a fruit it's gone. at $1 a pop for an admission fee to look at a DRM song - I'm sure they're doing just fine covering the cost of the DRM. But if there's one thing that can make the industry suck it up and admit that DRM is actually an inferior product, it's the ability to profit off of doing so. They've had their laughs selling suckers songs @ $1 a piece (it nudges me towards misanthropy knowing that people actually pay this), now like the bully on the playground who grows weary of his antics, they'll give you your doll back - but of course you'll have to fess up your ice cream money first.
For those of you that are curious, here is an example of the material the parent mentioned the amish trawl for at the library.
in Boston you always get to get on the sweaty train - it's called the Green Line.
and I can see hilarity ensuing when their suction-cups fail and they fall to the floor - it's bound to happen.
spider-pig, spider-pig, radio-active spider-pig!
Interesting - In my country fat people are not a minority.
great, we're totally going to attract the wrong kind of interstellar crowd when our space-folk start flaunting some camel-toe in these suits.

but you certainly can buy real EVOO at the stores. There is plenty of excellent EVOO available in the states.

Duke Nukem Forever will most certainly be the best game of all time
This is so friggin' obvious that even though the game is not yet complete, it should still easily have made #1. I demand a recount!

seriously... I don't know
Of course on slashdot a handle called "Vulva" would just *have* to be a guy.

oh man, I can't wait for the issue of national geographic that shows EPA workers cleaning off gooey syrup from totally spazzed out diabetic seagulls.

No. The other two would be water and sewage.
I hereby release Chabil Ha' from any obligations to purchase and install a big red button.
Are you the type that posts "insensitive clod" comments on lawn and garden BBs because you live in a high-rise?
Shame on me for feeding this AC troll but...

RAM upgrades will continue to be sold at dollar-stores everywhere, but will cost $1.75.
The original marketing strategy to nickle-and-dime buyers to death with tantalizing upgrades has been revamped to a dime-and-quarter schema.

did not know that. always thought it was a cheap imitation of dog crap.
darn, I wish you weren't posting as AC. I was going to add you as a friend and hope for the best.
