    And connecting to the Internet via DSL is not equivalent to communicating over the phone. Just b/c they use the same architecture, it doesn't make the end result the same. Just another person trying to poke holes in a story looking for a +5 Interesting.

    Sounds like you might have got scared you were too low and quickly upped it without looking into it. Which happens to a lot of people. Supplementing with 2,000IU of vitamin D is, scientifically speaking ;), a crap load of extra Vitamin D.

    Most supplements, good supplements, I've seen are derived from D3 so I'll assume yours was too. You could switch to one that contains maybe 200-400IU and get a good boost. You also have to watch how much is in any other supplements you take. A lot of multivitamins have 400IU of D3 in them already.

    Because it's rude to the person running the meeting and everyone else there. Is 10 minutes of waiting at the start of the meeing, possibly chatting with the other folks there, going to kill you? And if the presenter fumbles for their slides, wait patiently and pretend it never happened. Don't immediately turn to your computer and start checking email.

    Just b/c someone does worse fact-checking doesn't mean Wikipedia is off the hook in any way. I'm not arguing either way on whether Wikipedia should be or not but your argument is a poor one.

    That's what I thought at first too. I think the issue is that they expected continual growth, no drops. I think it's too early to cry foul but if by end February the trend hasn't reversed, then it may be time to start worrying.

    Unfortunately, that's a long time to wait for some people so they're going to start worrying now.

    They never said that they know. I saw "could be" used a couple times though. They figure if it is a new ocean, it'll take a million+ years to form. That gives them lots of time to change their findings if the growth slows ;)

    I have to tip my hat to that suggestion. It's never made sense. I don't do any intensive database work but the stuff I do, it's annoying to have to write out the insert/update queries differently in the same function.

    Right, but you could spread for a while and then kill. You may not get the absolute best of both worlds (although killing is killing) but would get a much better total payload than choosing one or the other.

    Sure, you can think of ways to break the system but let's face it, so far it has saved lives. How many lives has it taken away? I think the reward is justifying the cost. If it saves one person's life, don't you think it's worth the reward? It probably would be if it was a person you knew.

    By the way, kids are always going to find ways to get into locked pools at night. How else do you go skinny dipping if you're not near a lake/river/etc? Give me a break.

    No, it shouldn't be the only defense but honestly, parents can't watch kids 24/7. This should just be an extra safeguard to save kids lives. And it did.

    I suggested to a client once that they just use FireFox. He proceeded to download it. He was promptly told by IT that he could not install it. With this, at least he can some of the benefits if he can't have them all.

    It's actually not a mistake. It's talking about the act of code signing so "do you code sign" is acceptable usage. I can't think of a good example of where else this happens but as much as I enjoy pointing out editor mistakes, I don't believe this is one.

    Go ahead and try it yourself next time. But start your post with, "here's an interesting thought..." and see how many Interesting mods you get even if what you said is total drivel.
