I hope by "a minute" you mean a couple seconds. I understand your argument and all but what other Vista did you think it was about (keeping in mind that this is a tech forum and the borg icon was next to the submission)
Yes, and they serve up files. They won't go near doing all that Apache does. It's very easy to write a webserver to simply serve files but to do everything else (plug-in architecture, security framework, etc) it takes a lot.
Not that somebody else couldn't do it. But why if it's done quite well already.
Or is it worth all that extra cash and fuel for 2 trips a year? For the hauling, get it delivered. For the trip where 4-wheel drive is required...go somewhere less muddy;)
But seriously, saying "twice a year I need to do something with a truck so I *need* one" seems a bit...odd.
How the hell do you actually estimate that something will cost 6 trillion dollars? Trying to get an estimate for something that can run upwards of a million dollars would be extremely hard.
I mean, sure, if you're off by a couple million then it's not a big deal in the scheme of things but has there ever been a more "pulled out of our ass" estimate ever?
Sounds like saying "We don't know but it'll be lots!"
You're an "interesting" in my book but I'm out of points.
The main thing is it doesn't say exactly how they track this number. If I do both legal and illegal ways, where does that count me in the percentages? Does it just get crossed out as "even"? That falls into the logical fallacy you mentioned. Conversely, if I'm just counted as one or the other, then the results are going to be skewed there as well.
That's not necessarily keeping Office in RAM. It's preloading some shared DLLs that other applications use as well. And osa.exe is no more in the latest releases (I know he said "never")
Screw it, I'm going to Starbucks to have a triple-latte and complain about the deforestation. That's where they like...chop down trees for no reason...right?
Every technological advancement will hurt the poor the most. We can cry all day about it if we want but that's the way it is. New stuff == more expensive. In time, prices will come down and $200 TVs will be sitting on the shelves just begging to be bought.
Well, it wasn't clear from the article but from some reading I assume they mean March 1...2006. Yeah sure, may seem obvious to some but a date with no year can mean many things.
I agree. I'm not a huge fan of Pamela Anderson but this show is actually entertaining. It's not ideal but it makes me laugh and want to watch it (for obvious reasons)
I agree on it being bizarre someone modded you interesting. And I find it unfortunate that you were going for +5 Funny. At best, this is -2 OLD JOKE.
Over a year ago people found out how to "uninstall" IE from Windows. As soon as he said it couldn't be done you know everyone went nuts trying to do it.
So let's stop using an old joke to try and get boosted up with other possibly relevant posts.
Change that. Insert "Smart companies" for Microsoft. Oh, and "Smart companies" for MS too. Then it all works out in the end. Corporations. Gotta love em.
Adjusted for the split? The historical price is yes. But once the split happens, it's half what it used to be at that point if you don't go back historically and split the price. If it was at $60 and they split 2-1, it's "down" to $30.
I believe that's what the poster was talking about.

If only it were that easy.
How many regular consumers back up their media? I wouldn't think it's a large amount.
How does this harm regular consumers? Are we talking that price on players will go up? Or price on media?
Or is this new scheme something that requires a whole new player to understand it?
The CDFreaks link is down and I couldn't find anything on a quick google other than the specs. And I don't want to read a spec sheet!

Basically, we need their spreadsheet to see
Interesting. Thanks for the links!
I was listening up until here:
LCD screen does not have that same metabolism & brain-slowing effect that the cathode ray tube does.
And that made me do a double-take. Where does this come from? Seriously, I'd be interested in reading it.
It said Knoppix was the first "major" live CD. So you're correct on your correction but that's based on an incorrect interpretation.

Right but it doesn't keep "Office" in RAM. It keeps some pieces loaded up but to say that Office was preloaded is incorrect

I'm sure they'll run these directly on their home machine with all their important documents :)
But...but..the free...free market...it...it...should be...free?

While trying to confirm that I found an interesting page:

Does anyone know the stats on how many stations are digital?

Explain to me how the parent showed insight or was perceptive in pointing out that he still has the game. Please. I'm dying to know.
Wow. That was a waste of money on those windows licences!

Brand name carries farther than just what you can search for on Google.

Not that I think TigerDirect are angels here but Google is not the be-all of the known universe. It's definitely in their plans, but not yet
Nope. They're just finally responding to customer wishes.
