What features exactly are so integrated that a 3rd party developer could not mimmick? The address book is accessable by any program. That is all I can think of.

Apple is just doing what it has to do to compete. And honestly, for the iApps I use, there is no alternative which I find better, if there was, I would probably use it.

If Apple was a dominant force in the market, at the caliber of Microsoft, then the maybe the iApps would seem a bit monopolistic. But Apple doesn't try to force you to use them and they can be uninstalled if you don't want them, unlike IE and as WMP.

That't not to say OS X isnt a better choice, hell I switch from Win2k to OS X last year and I'm not looking back (except to play Galaxies this fall).

It wouldn't make sense to run the promotion into August if they were going to give the G4 towers a speed bump at this show. Apple doesn't want to give a rebate on the NEW G4 towers, just the old ones. Now if Apple were releasing G5 towers at the show, then the rebates for G4 towers would be a good idea still. But we all know that isn't going to happen this year.

Hopefully January will be a different story. Plus that gives me time to save up! :)

the title "GameCube Really And Truly For Sale" is a play on the fact that some stores were already selling cubes and today is the official launch day, where it will be available everywhere (except where it is sold out).

Being that Resident Evil is now a Gamecube exclusive [cube.ign.com] , that part of your argument doesnt hold.

Also, the new bond game from EA, and Perfect Dark (very not for kids) and Conker's Other Bad Day (very very not for kids).

Mario may look like a kiddie game, but there has not been many platform games which I would consider better than Mario 64, so yes I do enjoy playing them (at 21 years old). I do not enjoy Pokemon one bit though. Zelda is a great game, Im not sure I like the look of the new one, but its probably going to be a great game anyhow.

    Dont forget Rougue Leader.

So while Nintendo has a 'kiddie' image left over from n64, it is clear that they are trying to target a much more broad audience this time around.

  14. Re:GOOD on NSync Copy Protected CD · · Score: 4, Interesting

What you just explained is what most people who do not like this music, do not like about this music.

It is manufactured, easily digestible, put in a pretty little package and sold by the millions.

It is what the record companies want you to buy, it is easy for them to sell, especially when it is all over TRL.

The music is too perfect, there is no soul to it. N*sync has no emotional attachment to the songs because all they did was sing them.

Sure they look good and arguably can dance and arguably have good voices, but its manufactured, and pushed upon its audience, who buy it because all their friends are going to have it and its all over MTV and popular radio.

    Its the perfect formula.

The same can be said for mainstream rap and rock, with the exception that some of them, infact, more likely most of them, actually write their own songs. It is still over produced to the point where seeing how much talent these bands don't have in concert is painful.

I don't see the big deal here. Let the online music services be anti-competitive, they are not going to last anyway, if they launch the way the record companies are planning them to.
I'm not going to pay the same price for a song that is lesser quality than a CD so I can sit and wait for it to download. And the best part about it, is that I can only listen to it on my PC. Now thats great, I'll buy all this music and I won't be able to use it in my car or home stereo, so what good does it do me.
Even if I get a copy protected CD at least I can put the CD in my car/pc/stereo, or oh no! bring it to a friends house.

The record companies will have a rude awakening if they do not listen to the consumers wants when designing these new services.
