The average person will lose 15 mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in an hour, or 0.015 percent, so your figures are wrong.
Most of your advice here may be true of your jurisdiction, but not in mine. I'd suggest people consult a real lawyer in their own jurisdiction before they try anything like this. Or as another poster said, just don't drink and drive.
I'm a qualified technician on a BAC Datamaster C, and no, mouthwash in the morning won't cause you to blow over and neither will one beer. I know, because I've tried.
No, its the other way around, people see cops as the enemies, some cops eventually return the favor. Police don't just suddenly throw away all their old friendships and begin seeing the general public as enemies the day they start on the job. Its completely illogical to think that they would. The reality is that people treat cops differently than the average person. People look at you funny and act differently when they find out your a cop, almost like you belong to some cult religion or something. And of course, as this thread has shown, most people have nothing but disdain for the police. Just look at all the comments here about speeding tickets. Speeding is illegal, if you're speeding you're breaking the law, and a cop is going to give you a ticket. Don't whine about it, and don't try to make the cop look like the enemy and you the saint, YOU'RE the one breaking the law. Its a thankless job, a tough job and a dangerous job and sometimes you wonder why you bother putting up with all the sacrifices. So when you're a cop, eventually you're left with nothing but other cops as friends, or sometimes others in emergency services that you deal with a lot (nurses, ETMs, etc.) Combine that with the stressors of the job which the average person couldn't fathom, and thus the support you can only get from people in these fields, and no wonder that's who cops hang out with.
So you'd prefer to have the police sit back until you're the victim of a crime instead of having them try and prevent the crime from happening in the first place?
They likely didn't do anything about your noisy neighbour because the law doesn't allow it. Had they acted differently your neighbour would be on here posting about how the cops came into his house without a warrant in the middle of the night while he was sleeping.
You're right, as a taxpayer you pay them to do work for you. Part of that is handing your ass speeding tickets. If you don't like them, slow the fuck down.
Also, you ignore the fact that should a person end up homeless because they'd rahter just smoke pot, that's their choice. They wanted to keep pushing things further, they choose NOT to get help, they choose to beg. That is within their rights.
Doesn't begging = help?
Or do you mean that they choose not to get help for the drugs?
In that case, I have two problems with that. One, "treatment" doesn't work, two, "treatment" costs ME money, and if you can choose to use drugs then I think I ought to be able to choose NOT to pay a single cent for your "treatment" or any other cost associated with your "choice".
Maybe it wouldn't be such a problem if it was legal at an earlier age and people learned how to use it responsibly. Think there is any great mystery to booze in a country where you can legally buy it at 18 and where your parents have been giving it to you at dinnertime since you were 5 years old? Think those countries have a problem with binge drinking?
Yes.
I know lots of people who started drinking at a very young age, and by the time they're old enough to buy liquor legally (18 here) they're already alcoholics. Is this your solution?
This may come as a shock to you, but some crime, in fact some would say most crime, comes as a result of drugs (and alcohol) in the form of thefts, assaults, murders etc. I don't think any police officer or judge is kept in business purely through drug charges, but rather through the charges that stem from drug use. In fact the war on drugs would work a lot better if the police weren't tied up with cleaning up the fallout from drugs.
Static friction is greater than kinetic friction, which is why your brake pads should be locked against the discs instead of skidding on them. Its the same argument isn't it?
The difference is that I'd bet your tires can absorb more energy and thus slow your car more quickly than your brakes.
In theory, threshold braking is supposed to work better, the reality is that it takes significant skill and good brakes to actually pull that off.

Well, you make some good points there. However, I did know what I went there to buy, but the clerk couldn't even find it for me. Also, this isn't a big box store, its a store that mostly sells OEM stuff and parts for customizing computers. Their main clientelle are people who know what they're doing. I don't think it should be too much to ask that their clerks know how to find things in their store.
I walked into Computer Boulevard about three weeks ago looking for a replacement hardware modem (unfortunately I don't live in Winnipeg anymore, but about 250 km north east, no cable or even DSL here.)
So the sales guy asks me if I need help and I tell him I want a 56k hardware modem. So he ushers me to the modem section to let me browse. Sure enough, there's nothing there but winmodems. He comes back a couple minutes later and asks if I found what I was looking for. I said no, and that what I was looking for was a hardware modem, because I'm running linux. I told him they probably only had it in OEM.
So he goes and gets the big book of parts and finds it, and I tell him that yes, that's exactly what I came for. Well off he goes and comes back several minutes later to tell me that those are in the back, which is why I couldn't find it. Gee, thanks, that's why I mentioned it was OEM, since they don't usually put OEM parts on the shelf. So he asks if I want one, and I say yes, and off he goes only to come back and report that they're out of stock.
I went over to Computer Avenue and was met with someone (unforuntately I didn't get his name) that knew what he was talking about and was quickly walking away with what I needed, albeit at a $10 higher price than I would have paid at CBIT if they'd had one.
The sad part about this is that I'm not a computer professional, just a user, and one that's not even that familiar with hardware. I'm all isolated from the computer world and out of the loop up here on MTS's when-they-feel-like-it internet access. I don't think I should know more than the clerk at the store.
Distribution of copyrighted material is NOT legal. This levy was a trade-off to make it legal for one person to make multiple copies of music that they already bought. An example would be to make a compilation CD of your favourite songs off of 10 CDs that you already own. That's right, we pay a levy to "compensate" artists for the "financial loss" caused by this "privelege" that has been granted to us. Its utter bullshit.
Burning a CD and giving it to a friend or trading MP3s is NOT LEGAL. That's distribution which is clearly prohibited by the Act.
I think much moreso than text-mode mail readers is that many people use only webmail. I know a lot of people who don't realize they can get an email address through their ISP, but have hotmail addresses because that's what they know. Also, many use gmail or their ISP's webmail option since its so portable.

VP Cheney didn't kill anyone, which as I understand it is a very crucial part of "manslaughter".
Someone forgot to tag this story "aprilfools" with the rest of them.

Hey now... the last two might actually happen.
I too use Psi, and so far, I can't seem to log in to talk.google.com. Have you had any success?

Yeah, cause someone looking for a movie would never think to look in Blockbuster.
