I think the Conficker was going for the clichéd horror film approach. Granted, it should have really done it on April 2nd but doing it this way has probably blind sided more people.
I get a serious headache, quickly followed by nausea and a general flu-like feeling
My mate gave up caffeine for Lent a few years ago, he also suffered from really bad headaches because he used to drink 8 cups of tea a day. Never again:)
This is could one of two ways, either the viruses will try and outdo each other by doing more and more outrageous things to the victim's computer or (and let's face it, this would be more amusing) they'll try and kill each other to get sole ownership of the PC.
The funniest spam message I ever saw had the subject header "Pound her 'til she finishes". I thought that was so funny I went and bought some Viagra from them.
I know that has been modded as funny (at time of writing), but the AC has a point. I used KDE 4.2 for about 4 hours before I gave up on it and went back to KDE 3.5. There weren't any major bugs, but there were simply loads of tiny bugs which all accumulated into massive annoyances:
* The desktop icons wouldn't remember their positions * Konqueror wouldn't remember its settings * Loads of minor graphical glitches (but this more the fault of the nVidia driver)
The biggest issue I came across was after I installed it, the Show Desktop widget corrupted after the first reboot. It did this on another machine too.
In fact, my laptop was so disappointed that the motherboard died...
Kubuntu Januty comes out in a few weeks but I'm going to stick to Hardy. Maybe I'll revisit KDE when 4.3 comes out.
Even the slightest bit of lag will make this unusable. Imagine playing something like Street Fighter or any game that requires you to make cat like reflexes, it just won't work. It'll probably be OK for something like a point and click game such as Monkey Island, but trying to pull off one of those lengthy combos in Street Fighter IV's Trial Challenge just isn't going to happen.
It'll uninstall your current OS and install Vista. And if you have already have Vista it'll simply do nothing, because you're already suffering enough.
newer GCC?
Nope, they just added -O3 to the compile options :)
Don't forget Kubuntu! It's got KDE 4.2 now!
Looks like that's another nail in Silverlight's coffin.
Is 8am too early to start drinking?
That really depends upon your timezone and whether or not you've been to bed yet.
They're probably just trying to stop people from downloading the new Wolverine movie
Mono... D'oh!
But the economy's still all cracked and broken!
Sorry guys, Obama's spoken!
Monorail... Monorail... Monorail!
With Microsoft cooperating to improve the language, now we can move on beyond the fifth edition, toward ECMAScript harmony.
Whatever happened to Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish?
Extend is right there in bold
If you actually bothered to read the article you would have noticed that they were found guilty of copyright infringement, not stealing.
Yet another reason not to use Digg

If this doesn't warrant an "in Soviet Russia" comment I don't know what does.
Some of the videos claim that because it's 'gifting,' it's somehow legal
Reminds me of that law software pirates invented so that they could copy games.

I'm really surprised they managed to send so many messages without Twitter displaying the Fail Whale.

Either way, I'm glad I use Linux.
Is there a list of who has the most achievements? Maybe Slashdot should award titles depending upon how many achievements you have.

Slashdot Achievements are OK, but Digg has Trophy support...

Maybe in 20 years?

until they wake the computer opponent disconnect from the game in a strop or use your quick load over and over until it beats you.
Well for starters I'd really hope they don't call them that to their faces.
