    The Movie Mafia is addicted to high profits.
    They pitch it as "Own it today" like you would a book but don't want you to copy it.
    So that means they are Licensing it but they will not recognize that you have already
    paid for your license when the media fails or gets lost.

    Either way they will loose:
    -If they loose control: They will get less $ for their movies.
    -If they get absolute control: People will start making their own movies and will get NO $.

    I have MTV (MTV Canada mind you) and instead of REAL commercials
    I get these stupid brain-dead "This is not an add for MTV" commercials.
    Talk about preaching to the converted!

    BTW: I don't watch the videos. My Wife watches one or 2 shows, that's it. The rest of the "content" is total crud!

    This is the argument that we should be pushing. Back then you probably could have patented Bits and Bytes. How about it it happened in 1980: Makers of Wordstar and Visi-calc whould have locked the wordprocessing and Spreadsheet markets, respectively. Makers of CP/M would lockup PC OS' so MS would have never existed! What this will do is make all new and exciting stuff happen where SW patents do NOT exist.

    Wouldn't work. Prior art exists in your (and everybody else's) inbox.

    Of course they would make Thunderbird good for all countries to use. It's built by the world, not a company in the USA. The issue is that it doesn't even try make the contacts consistent in any way.

    BTW: In Canada, we have the same phone numbering system as the US. We even coordinate use of area codes so they don't overlap!

    Of course they would make Thunderbird configurable. It built by the world, not a company in the USA. The issue is that it doesn't try make the contacts consistent in any way.

    Until I can print 15 or so contacts per sheet, I can't use it.

    It's also a pain to enter phone numbers. If you type 555 5551234 and it keeps it like that. It doesn't reformat to (555)555-1234.

    Until this is fixed, I wait. (BTW: there are no Contact Extensions for it...)

    Air conditioners, Radiators (in cars, industry), heat from cooking. We are wasting loads of energy in the form of heat.

    We have ways to recover some heat from wasted water like this
    Now imagine how much heat you could get from water-cooled server rooms. That could go straight to the hot water tank but instead goes down the drain.
    Heat pumps like this would prevent all that heat from going up in the air and changing the weather.
    What is needed are updated building codes (Hint: start with big houses and restorants for the grey water heat recovery)
    Instead, we go liberate some oil to keep the status quo...

    I have a Lie-ra too. The 128MB version. It claims to play MP3s but you must convert them to MPY format using a MusicMatch plugin!! (BTW: it plays WMA files too but without a conversion to MPY )
    I wonder if this Lyra play MP3s or MPYs?

    These POS MP3 players force you to use a MusicMatch plug-in to transcode from MP3 to MPY, just in case you'd want to transfer songs to another PC.
    To add insult to injury, it play WMA files WITHOUT MODIFICATION!.

    They could easily fix that since the toy loads its OS from memory storage area.

    Moral: Don't buy MP3 Player from companies that own Music Labels (read: part of the RIAA cartel). (I got this as a gift)
