A lift kit on a duelly.....That's just going out of your way to waste money. You lose the towing capacity a duelly is intended for without gaining the serious off-road capability a regular 4x4 lifted truck would give.
We need more data, virtual rape may not be a crime, but harassment is. If this person is unable to log onto Second Life without being harassed, then she (or he) has a legitimate case.
This sort of reminds me of the "Greater Internet Fukwad Theory"....can't remember where that is from though...I want to say Penny Arcade, but I'm not sure.
I know, I should just Google it, but then I'd deny another "Fukwad" the opportunity to say, "Why don't you just Google it?"
"So, I installed the WGA update and it mistakenly identified my OS as pirated....after two months of trying to resolve the issue through technical support where I was repeatedly assured that, '...we understand problem...send you SUPER DELUXE answer....next day....you betcha!', I finally contacted Steve Ballmer himself. Amazingly, he showed up at my house the very next day!.....and threw a folding chair at me.....so I bought a MacBook"
Also called "Dysfunction of Sensory Integration". It's a neurological condition where the brain has difficulty putting certain sensory signals "in the background". Say, for example, you put on a wristwatch this morning. Eventually your brain goes "OK...wrist watch...left arm...I get it", and you stop becomming constantly aware of the watch. You know it's there, the nerves in your arm can still detect it, but the brain pushes it into the background because it does not need to keep reminding you it's there.
A tactile DSI, would always feel like they just put that watch on, it can be quite irritating after a while. Tactile DSIs often do things like cut tags off of thier clothing and take other such steps to minimize the sensory overload they are exposed to.
I'm an auditory DSI, I have a hard time blocking out background noise and often times, it competes with what I should be paying attention to. My work-around is to wear wireless full-coverage headphones that pipe in soft classical music. Thus, I reduce the distractions to a single source that is easy to manage.
These days however, I have an office so I can also just close my door.
Based upon my experience, I say this won't work like they hope it will.
However, the mere fact that humans are pre-disposed to find patterns does not automatically make these patterns invalid, only that any discovered pattern requires further validation.
Otherwise, you risk falling into the trap of tossing out valid data merely because you chose not to believe what you see. This is the opposite error of "jumping to conclusions".
I've seen this with what appears to be increasing frequency lately. Slashdot publishes and article very suggestively worded ("ex-employee downloads sensitive nuclear data for Iran", "Open-WAP implies probably cause", etc.). Then, you read the actual article and see a somewhat different story. Take the present case, The open-WAP was not the probable cause here. The discovery of child porn associated with the WAP was. Is this enough evidence to convict? NO, of course not, it's an open portal so anyone could have used it. Is is enough to justify a closer look? Hell yes.
And what did they find? Multiple DVDs worth of child porn.
C'mon guys, I know you're better than this.....drop the loaded headlines, OK?
So far, for me Konqueror works just fine. Sometimes you have to tell it to identify as IE or Mozilla, but so far, it's always worked. Opera doesn't do too bad either.
Besides being a very efficient way to enter formulas into a calculator, one of the nice things about RPN was that people didn't want to borrow your calculator.
Of course, mine was an HP41-CV.... which will date me a bit
Only three sites came up....an "animusic" video clip....the website of a nearby community college....and a site entirely in what appeared to be German....the image was suppressed by my work computer (as were the other two), and I have no recollection of visiting such a site - particularly given that it's in a language I don't understand.
I was in the process of refinishing my basement. It had existing cinder-block walls that I chose to leave partially bare along with conventional sheetrock walls which I added. So, not being clear if the same Latex based interior paint would adhere equally well to both types of walls, I googled for "Latex Bondage"
While Gnome is Ok....I think KDE is, overall, the better package...and Kontact has really improved. I was a big evolution fan, but now I think Kontact has surpassed it. At this point, I even prefer Koqueror to Firfox.
I've been away from KDE for a little over a year (using Gnome with Ubuntu). Prior to that, I ran SuSE (with KDE of course). So, I've spent a reasonable amount of time with both desktops. This latest KDE seems to be more responsive than I remember it (but perhaps Kubuntu is less resourse hungry than SuSE).
Sorry....low-hanging fruit :)

But you do gain dramatically increased drag.
Put their online persona in a Virtual Prison, where they will be unable to leave on interact with anyone until their sentence has been served.
Thus, the Virtual predator is taken of the Virtual streets.
I know you were probably being a smart-ass, but your solution has merit.

but it sure does seem that Slashdot's articles have been increasingly more "reactionary" or, at least, provocatively worded.
I mean, it's one thing to specialize your content for a particular audience, it's quite another to "pander" to them.
You start using foreign phrases and shit like that and it just oozes class.
