They take a while to charge. Almost all of my use of Superchargers has been during road trips -- not around town -- and it's never taken as little as 20 min. to charge. According to https://www.tesla.com/supercha... a Model S with a 90kWh battery takes 40 min. to charge from 10% to 80%, and, as the rate slows as the battery "fills", another 35 min. to go from 80% to 100%

First para. of Tesla's blog entry of today with the announcement; emphasis added:

The Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode is the third fastest accelerating production car ever produced, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.5* seconds. However, both the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder were limited run, million dollar vehicles and cannot be bought new. While those cars are small two seaters with very little luggage space, the pure electric, all-wheel drive Model S P100D has four doors, seats up to 5 adults plus 2 children and has exceptional cargo capacity.

  7. For completeness: Teslas Models S and X with the Autopilot Convenience Features option...

  8. Tesla Models S and X read speed limit signs with with a camera mounted near the rear-view mirror.

In the car's settings, the driver can specify a default offset to the speed limit that will be applied when the engagement stalk is pulled rearward. If the stalk is moved vertically, the current speed is applied.

  9. "Autopilot" is an unfortunate marketing name that has been adopted by the Tesla and its owner community to designate the combination of Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC, based on radar) and Autosteer (lane following based on a camera), two of the features included in the Autopilot Convenience Features purchase option. Tesla tries to convey that this is far from autonomous operation -- with great success based on owner comments in dedicated forums, but much less success among the curious public.

The term "Autopilot" appears in the Owner's Manual only to designate the purchase option package and the associated hardware. In discussion of usage and cautions, the individual feature names (e.g., TACC, Autosteer) are used.

  10. "miscalculated heart rates by up to 20 beats per minute"

  12. This is not a self-driving car on Software Update Adds Autonomous Driving To Tesla's Bag of Tricks (nytimes.com) · · Score: 1

It's fine to use Tesla's new software release of (what it calls) autopilot features as a basis for discussion of future possibilities, but this release is far from providing autonomous driving or a self-driving car. This is beta software of certain limited features; it requires constant vigilant attention to the road and surrounding conditions by the driver and is intended for use only on divided limited-access multi-lane highways. Indeed, it could be said -- as some users have -- that it requires *more* vigilance than conventional driving because the user is a beta tester.

Somewhat separately, at low speeds it will find and maneuver into parallel parking spaces.

Hmm? What's an "apparent" withdrawal? The bank's transfer to a depositor is the same as the bank "spending" the bitcoins. The transfer is a transaction that will be confirmed by bitcoin's peer-to-peer protocol. After the transaction the "original" is not "still good" and cannot be spent or transferred, i.e., will not be confirmed by the network.
