>> What's worse, molesting a child or murdering one?
Thats not the point, although I believe they're equally as bad. The point here, is that these people are out of jail and in the public. With a convicted murderer they are punished for longer periods of time, hopefully they'll never get back in to society. With these people, they're back in a few years, so I'm damn happy to know we can find out about them to stop harm from coming to us or our kids.
I'm at a medium sized software company now, and if the customers knew of the arguments and disagrements between execs, marketing, engineering, support, etc they'd be amused. Seldomly do any of them have the same ideas or agree on the same thing.
Actually according to SouthPark Season 6 Episode 8 we learn your statement is false.
Scene: Vatican City, Italy
Italian Cardinal: Your Holiness, this is Father Maxi from America. He has brought this all to our attention.
Italian Cardinal: Cardinals, bishops, and priests, an American priest by the name of-a Maxi has brought to our attention the most troubling of news. All over his-a country there are reports of children being molested by men of the Chuch. If things continue this way, we'll never be able to have sex with young boys again! [the prelates react immediately, protesting the report]
Father Maxi: That's right-wait. What?
French Cardinal: In France as well we are finding it harder and harder to... make love to our boys.
Moroccan Cardinal: In Morocco they have arrested five of my priests. It's only a matter of time before they get the rest of us.
Italian Cardinal: Father Maxi, what do you suggest we do to not get caught.

When i worked at one of the big 3 computer oems doing support for laptops, a customer called in with one of those and one of our laptops.
He was having a problem with the Billy Bass fish so he managed to rig one of our power supplies to connect to it and the fish started smoking so he called us to repair the fish because we didn't warn him not to connect the power supply to fish.
With the lack of a part number on the fish, we decided not to replace it.:)

That can change significantly if there is pending litigation, especially of such magnitude. This COULD even the delay the IPO if it drags on long enough and turns out to be true.
google's linux farms are normal every day PCs which work together, this means there is a HUGE number of computers as opposed to other companies which use a smaller number of more powerful server. Since SCOs extortion demand is per machine to purchase a license this would be a huge hit for google.
I wrote a small software app for a the company I work for, and someone linked to it from a discussion forum.
That gave that name of that program xxxxx.exe 1 hit on google. About 3 days later a search for the xxxxx.exe provided 3 hits, two of them were porn sites that somehow harvested the name of our.exe file.
While it's not a huge deal, I e-mailed Google and heard nothing for 4 days. I didn't expect a response and told them that in my e-mail. However then I recieved a personalized (not a form) e-mail regarding my comments and that they'd take the issue seriously.
24 hours later they were able to filter out these porn sites that were harvesting new terms that appeared in Google.
I gotta say props out to the boys there, it's one classy establishment.
>> what we need is a good 3rd party to anaylze this issue!
Yes, but while the third party is working on the issue (courts) we need something to keep us busy bashing SCO.

wow good point...
I own a Pioneer A06 but it only has a 2mb buffer, while I haven't had any problems myself, some people have especially on Mac because of the lack of buffer while the sony 510a offers 8mb.
So it's a tossup between one of those two when I get my next dvd burner

Berkeley Systems v. Delrina Corp., U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (1993). Represented Delrina in copyright and trademark infringement action arising from its "Opus 'n Bill" computer screensaver and parody of Berkeley's "flying toasters."

I'm not really sure I understand whats stopping Germany from just launching it the way they want it.
I really don't think Bush could invade Germany, (insert random Iraq conflict comment), so what is the worst that could happen?
Trade embargo? Unlikely.

These aren't people who took a candy bar or even stole a car, SOME OF THEM HAD SEX WITH LITTLE BOYS AND THEY AREN'T EVEN CATHOLIC PRIESTS.
If that isn't just sickening, I don't know what is.

Incorrect, the tax is on all blank CD media with exemptions for some businesses as shown in the article.

While plextor was the first to release this, they are no longer the only one! Philips DVDR824P is available as well as Memorex's 8X entry.
Sony is also releasing the DRU 530A in Decemeber at about the same time as the Pioneer DVR-A07 and Cyber Drive 8X DVD+R drive.
Pretty soon we'll see 16x DVD recording speeds.
