  1. Time is not the 4th Dimention on Quantum Trickery - Einstein's Strangest Theory · · Score: 1

It bothers me how people always say that time is the 4th dimention. Looking at the first 3 dimentions, you would think that the forth dimention would simply be perpendicular to the 3rd, as the 3rd dimention is perpendicular to the 2nd... (or many 2D's aligned perpendicularly to eachother) Why is it that the first 3 dimentions are considered spatial, but not the forth? Just because we cannot imagine it, doesn't mean it cannot be. Time is NOT the 4th dimention

Yes, you can. you can change registry settings from the command line. Yes, you have to know the exact location, but that's like saying 'you have to know how to use a computer to use a computer'.
Yes you can install ALL programs from the command line... expecially the ones designed to use the standard windows installer (.MSI). It has some powerful commandline options, which are universal across all apps that use it. Search for msiexec.exe
You can do everything and anything from the command line. WSH/WMI add a great deal more functionality as well, and you can still keep it at the command line.

They became really popular, and we all know what happens in our society when too many people start liking something... all of a sudden it's not cool anymore and we look for reasons to hate them. We all try to distinguish ourselves from the rest. When everyone else likes microsoft, all of a sudden we feel the need to be 'different'. It's funny how it's cool for everyone to hate something, but not for everyone to love something. I bet my watch and warrant on this: Let's say in 5-20 years, some linux distro finally 'gets it right' and every mom and pop and grandma out there all of a sudden starts using linux, everyone here on slashdot who is pro-linux, will suddently find something wrong with this and turn. Just look at what happens with indy artists when they go big. we're so f8cked up.

The windows equivilent, on the other hand, takes the afternoon I don't know about you, but for me, between WSH and WMI, i can write some pretty complex things in no time.... and don't get me started on the ease of developing on MS's IDE.

  25. Windows on Ballmer: 'We'll catch Google' · · Score: 1

What exactly is substandard about Windows?? sure there may be a few things here and there but over all, it's a very complex OS that fits perfectly for average users, enterprises, servers, etc..
If you take the time to think about the sheer complexity of the OS and everything it can do with minimal fuss, it's quite amazing. I wonder how stable MacOS would be if every Joe Co. was making hardware for it and every Joe Other was writing software. I don't know about you guys, but since Win 98, I haven't had ANY problems with Windows. It NEVER crashes, It's fast, Easy to configure and install new devices and software, security has never been an issue as long as I don't blindly click OK just make dialog boxes go away... I don't get it!! Windows is a great OS... i wish people would stop bitch and realize that at the level of complexity that MS has to support, they're doing a pretty damn good job. Show me an OS that is as compatible and easy to use as windows and i'll shut up.
As a side note, I think MacOS is also a great OS, but I'm curious how that would change if Apple made a MacOS install CD that I can pop into any piece of hardware from 5, even 10, years ago,and have it run (ingoring speed). Linux may do this, but it looses in compatibility and ease of use.
