I suppose money helps, but how much money did these guys need to start up? No fancy offices with Aeron chairs. In fact, no offices at all to start with.
I'm not really sure what your point is. But then again, I'm not really sure what my point was, either.
I'm with you on that last sentence, however. I understand that humans are largely motivated by personal gain, but leaving it at that only puts us on par with all the other non-sentient beings in the world. Human beings can be so much more.
Except when 51% of the people want it. Then the 49% that don't want it are forced to pay for something they don't want
You may have a point there. Those numbers are eerily close to another set of percentages that we've seen recently here in the US, and I'd have to say I'm in the 49% that was forced into taking something I didn't want.
Good luck with a class-action lawsuit these days. Thanks to our president, class-action suits go to federal judges, which are very unfriendly to them. Voila, pesky lawsuits on behalf of consumers go away.
The very best go programs are competition only for weak amateurs.
OK, I'm going to pop off and shoot myself now. On Goban with the smallest board and the easiest setting I still cannot figure out how to win a game. Perhaps I should start considering that tying my own shoes is quite an achievement.
Why would you "admit" that RMS is a commie when in fact RMS himself says he is not (in TFA)? Or is anyone who questions any facet of capitalism automatically a communist?
No joke. You might be interested in checking out this book. It details how "loans" are forced on developing countries at interest rates they will never be able to pay back. If the economic "hit men" were unable to convince a country's leader to accept their terms the jack-booted CIA thugs came in to take them out.
Money is, or should, be a secondary concern for everyone involved - there are bigger priorities here.
I am having a very hard time imagining higher ups in the corporate structures buying into this line of thinking, so why should I? For them it's almost always about the bottom line, else why would they incorporate in Bermuda, outsource, and automate in order to get rid of workers? Why is the worker expected to take the noble view while the management is out to make every last nickle they can?
I agree that money cannot be the only motivator, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't expect to be remunerated at the highest level we can possibly get.
They suffer the consequences of their inaction and/or ignorance? God forbid we expect people to be responsible for themselves...
We've already tried it your way. Social Security hasn't always been around. In fact, it was born out of a necessity to mitigate circumstances such as those surrounding the crash of the stock market in 1929. Are you telling me that all the people who got burned in the stock market deserved to starve to death for being so irresponsible by buying into a capitalist system?
GM food is being planted and grown outdoors. Obviously, due to wind and insects that GM plant is going to cross pollinate with natural plants. So, will Monsanto eventually own rights to, say, all corn? Why can't Monsanto be sued for contaminating other crops?
I realize that the case in question involves replanting bio-engineered seeds, but this is eventually what is going to happen. It's like second hand smoke. You're going to get it whether you like it or not.
Sure. Right here.
Cool. Now try reading the parent I was responding to.

No, but powerful Ford Galaxies were found in the 1960s.

Read me, Dr. Memory?

Bonus points if you can tell when vorbis ripped his first cd.
Why wait until then? I'll say it now. The book was better. That trailer looked awful. I'd be more excited about re-watching the original TV series.

I probably could have worked "effect" in there one more time.
...if this will have an effect on the quantum slash dot effect?

Only if you've been reduced to making nothing but clicking noises.
No, the contrapositive merely has the same truth value as the original statement. Isn't that one of DeMorgan's Laws?
Ah, thank you.
Oh, come on. They are not children of the devil. More like second cousins.
a.k.a. "Anonymous Coward."

So would a Cray. If you made a really big robot.
You're absolutely right. You have to download the movie that shows it, as found on the website.
