I find it amusing that iPod owners are so defensive. Its as if those stuck with their precious iPods are finding a way to justify iTunes and its proprietary format. I thought the article was well written and covered everything I was interested in. Yes, music you download from eMusic works on an iPod, but music downloaded from itunes ONLY works on an iPod, and I think that was the authors intent. BTW I thought a new patch for iTunes prevented Rhapsody users from playing Apple formatted music?
It is very clear in this article that these analysts do not know what they are talking about. Afer today there is no question in my mind that Xbox will be a success. Has Microsoft ever lost at anything they put their full weight into? Not likely. People will be converging from the high cost of computer gaming and move to the Xbox as a cheaper, beter alternative. The analysts mention in the Salon article are traditionalists, following whats tried and true not whats state-of-the-art and new.
This is great news. At least there is a ray of hope. The sad thing is that even if Microsoft loses, consumers lose as well because there is no good alternative OS out there for the:average" computer user. Me? Personally i would be just fine with this, I have my Linux baby!
The MHz race is getting a little rediculous at this point if you ask me. Processors are coming out faster than we can keep up with. Compitetion used to be good for the consumer, now it is abusing the consumer. People will want to stop upgrading at all for fear of missing a newer processor.
I think this could be Apple's attempt to promote their personal computers through a device that requires an Apple. Intel has been trying to do this with their consumer electronics line for the past 2 years. They failed miserably. Hopefully Apple does it right this time.
Personally, I don't think this product will last. Someone could just a buy a computer that does the same features for a lot less. $999 is a pretty steep price too. If company's want to make a lasting product that incorporates computer functions into a home theater entertainment center, they will have to offer something new and exclusive.
Designtechnica.com will be doing a review of the new Motorola Timeport 270 cell phone. This phone can be used as a PDA and uses Bluetooth technology to sync your computer with the phone. Make sure to look for it on www.designtechnica.com. As Far as I know, this is the only phone to use bluetooth technology in the U.S. so far.
Is it just me or does slashdot post news that belongs to other sites. I submit news and articles related and they never get posted, yet this silly article makes it? WTF is all I have to say.
This is a fantastic idea and should have been adopted a long time ago. Car manufacturers don't name their cars after the engines in them, the same should be done with PC's. In my opinion I think computers as a whole should have standardized class ratings, such as Class A computer: Has a 500 mhz or higher processor, 16mg or higher video card etc..the class ratings can be updated every year or so.
This would make it so much easier for software manufacturers to develop for computers...similar to consoles, but with the multi purpose of the PC.
I have been trying to post articles on Slashdot for a month now, but they are insistant on publishing other articles. I just posted an article on Quantum Computing. I think you will all enjoy it quite a bit. For those of you who do not know what Quantum computing is, the article explains it quite well. Here is the link . You can post comments on the article below it. Please tell me what you think.

The truth is that Microsoft will be using the Xbox's intended for Japan as backups in case the demand is to great. I suspect that if the launch is short of spectactular and the excess systems are not needed, then the Japanese launch will go on as previously scheduled.
Designtechnica has posted a pretty good review too: Designtechnica's Game Boy Micro Review". Personally this is way too small for me.

Well, money wise, it is not smart to keep upgrading your processor each time a new one comes out. Consumers will tire of this very quickly.

This product sounds good. I hope ReplayTV does not go down the tubes like they did before. They need to market their product more.

That Microsoft had their own research group. No wonder they have such innovtative products.

Lawyers are just getting bored if you ask me.

If Borders would have implemented this syste, I would never go there again. This is getting rediculous.
My site should have a review of it here pretty soon. My site link is in my signature.
I have the press release posted on my site. here is the link .
