From what I've read it looks like Elon wants to have competition, for him its more about the environment than about pure profit. Yes profit is important but that is not what drives him. Some people forget that and criticize his business practices but his behavior makes sense if you keep his ultimate goals in mind. Why else would he make his patents freely available if not to increase competition?
As long as they are compensated for their property what is the problem?
Here is another example, the government wants to take away people'e private property to build a wall along the southern border. What is the proof it will be effective? There is none, you just have to trust the politicians.
Freedom eh? Why should I be forced to use a toilet when I can just sh!t in the street, why am I forced to use garbage collections service when I can just burn my trash? Why am I restricted from buying biological weapons online? My freedoms are being impinged upon.
I agree but this should not just be limited to the EPA. The CIA needs to publish their methodology to the public so we can scrutinize it for accuracy lest we end up in another war based on dubious evidence ( see Iraq war ).
I think it was due to the sulfur dioxide being emitted by coal powered powerplants at that time which was also contributing to "acid rain" which the media also ran with. Installing scrubbers solved that problem.
Really? We have photon torpedoes? Force fields? Phasers? (not lasers). VR is no where near the holodeck. We don't even have fusion reactors which is what powers the impulse drive ( I think, I am not a Trek expert ).
I for one am tired of this trend in Hollywood where movies need to be "gritty" and the heroes serious and brooding for no good reason. Let's go back to heroes not taking themselves so serious. Compare the James Bond characters played by Sean Connery and Roger Moore vs Daniel Craig. Also, whatever happened to comedies that didn't need to resort to vulgarity to be funny.
How about locking the offices after working hours are over? Where I work the janitor gets pissed if I don't leave before 8:00pm since he needs to lock up the building.
I think we will need to change people's attitudes about the idea of "work." Right now if you are not working it is because you are a lazy bum. Many people define themselves by the work they do. This will need to change first before we can transition to some kind of UBI.
Correction, the people who still have jobs will spend their savings on other goods and services. The ones who were left jobless will be out searching for employment, if their skills are transferable all is well, otherwise they join the ranks of the unemployed. But the rest of us who still have jobs get to enjoy cheaper goods and services, yay for us!
Municipal Internet service versus the large telecoms is another well known example.

It becomes a political agenda when the solution is implementing a carbon tax or a cap and trade program.

Isn't blaming the EPA for ecological disasters like blaming the police when crimes are committed?
You mean like driving without wearing a seatbelt?

I like how they pretend to care about birds whenever the subject of wind power is discussed when it is obvious they don't care about the environment.

That explains why nearly all of them are millionaires. Think of all the inside info they get from lobbyists.

They need to remake ET.

The only "ground-breaking" game I can think of is Minecraft.
Literally.
In four years will Hollywood make a movie of Trump The Game?
It almost makes me sad they cancelled the Halo movie. I mean how bad could that have been? I'll bet it would have been better than Battleship.
As an example see the movie John Carter. I'll bet that scared the studios into relying on tried and true reboots.

That is no problem, they will just be programmed to vote against their own interests.

Isn't that what tariffs are for? To neutralize that foreign advantage?
You mean like Operation Plowshares?
Now, now, Goldman Sachs makes their clients money such as advising them to buy mortgage backed securities, oh wait, never mind.
