For me, Neflix is not only easier than piracy but it's a lot less trouble. Trying to match subtitles for a given DVD rip is like trying to win the lottery.
That reminds me of the time I read a comment on an online forum about someone who had a CS Prof that told him a story about the early mainframe days at his university. When he was a student, they gave free computer time as a reward for filing bug reports.
Him and his friends found that the payroll system had no security whatsoever and that any user could alter the records. So they reported the problem but a week later nothing changed, so they reported it again. Later, still no change.
So they wrote themselves each a check for minus one million dollars. They were all called in the next day to explain how the payroll system made nearly three million dollars.
And then when he posted that story online, some jerk told him that most of those stories are complete bullshit.
Can't live without: Apple: main computer for daily use (personal and work). Safari, Mail, Pages, etc. Alphabet: GMail (email used for various websites, great spam filters). YouTube. Chrome for websites that choke on Safari. Netflix: my only entertainment source (limited selection compared to the USA but still worth the price). Microsoft: only used for gaming. I don't use Office or anything else from Microsoft. It's just the OS that happens to be required for most games.
None at all: Facebook: No account, I don't use it. Don't care. Amazon: limited selection in Canada, prices are average, shipping costs are usually too high. Not interested in Prime, I pay enough monthly fees as it is. I usually buy either locally or from other websites.
My usage is a little different, though mine is certainly already agressive enough. Last week it broke its leash and ran away. By the time I caught up with it, it had already attacked three kids, two seniors, one postal worker and fifteen iPhones.
Enjoy the Windows 10 telemetry yet?
I mean, I use Windows 10 too but only as the OS required to run games. As far as Microsoft knows, all I use is Battle.net, Steam and GoG.

I want to live in the 1980's you insensitive clod!
Because ransomware did not exist before Bitcoin.
I've installed Windows 10 on my PC and TRY BING TODAY it's not that bad.
Ha ha! - Nelson Muntz
And how exactly are we supposed to "spread the news" if we're also against crap like FaceBook, Twitter, etc?
And the cool dogs use Dogecoin.
Millennials are... special.
A better way would be to send all the rounding errors of the payment system into a separate account. Nobody's going to miss fractions of a cent.
When Steven Hyde says stuff like that in That '70s Show, it's funny.
When it's real life, it's not funny anymore.
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
Would you like to play a nice game of chess?

But the new guards have rounded corners and anodized aluminium guns.
Are you happy now?

Funny how Unix, Linux and Mac users are alike these days. The only odd one is Windows.
Run Windows in a VM on Linux, don't run Linux apps on Windows.
At that price, I'll buy a few thousand kits and make millions of dollars in profit.
As far as I know Sunlight® is a registered trademark of The Sun Products Corporation.
At last, one person understood the joke.
Only if you point me to the Linux version of all my favorite games.
Oh, you can't? Then you're not offering a solution, you're just a fanboy praising for his team.
Does masturbation count as sex? Otherwise most slashdot readers are left out.
Not to mention that first-person shooters just plain suck with a controller. Keyboard+mouse FTW!
