Does anyone know if this kernel supports R or R/W the W2K style NTFS filesystem? Or if it's slated to be supported eventually? Figure this might come in handy now that MS is pushing XP so hard. Thanks!
I'm appauled that our elected representatives have decided to ignore the people that elected them. I've heard of reps that don't even use their email, or only accept written letters. They seem to think that if you take the time to write it down and send it, it must be important. I guess speed isn't of the essence when they're rushing a bill through the house's. I think we need to speak loudly next election day and push that all communication methods be used and accepted.
Actually it wasn't science that said we were the center of the Universe, it was religion. Circa the dark ages I believe wherein if you said that the Earth wasn't the center you could hanged. Makes a difference..
Finally they've including journalling as an installable option, I'm downloading now!!! Oh, does anyone know which journalling package it is? EXT3 maybe?
Just that one question keeps ringing in my mind. For 2K dollars, you get a system that can only surf the web, I see a sale needed badly. Kiosks cost alot less and just aren't as easily transportable, which is probably a good thing as they're harder to steal. So my question is what would anyone do with it?
In looking at it, these would give the majority of the ppl out there another reason to switch to Linux. Think about it, you can still have all your
application, web animations, games or whatever running on a reliable platform, that's secure, and also not tied down by license fees, monitoring, or any other strange thing that pops up out of Redmond. There's nothing to loose by supporting M$'s propetiary stuff and everything to gain...
I was checking up on CNN where one of the company reps had this to say,
"One of the key issues as a population that we have to address is what are we willing to pay for these new technologies," explained Oz. "I think that we should expect to spend about $70,000 per year to keep someone alive. Not twice that, but also not half that. If we have that rational expectation and insist on getting that quality for our money, I think we'll be happy."
Maybe it's me, but keeping the cost of saving someones life at 70,000 a year seems a bit steep, especially when the more of these devices one produces the cheaper it should become (see computer prices 1981 - 2001). I'm thinking if this thinbg flies, Abicor is going to keep it's prices artifically high. That my friends is crap.
Doesn't this bring back a flashback to that copy protection scheme they wanted to impliement in all hard drives awhile back? Glad I'm using Linux now...
One catch, it's "Free Speech" here in American but as I understand German law, that kind of speech is outlawed. Interest legal problem, there it's illegal, here it's not... but it can be accessed with ease from there. Their ministry has to act (after all what is a law if it's not enfoced) but how do you enforce your laws on someone else's nation?

I see hte Xbox ships with a P3, any idea if they're still including the PSN number with that? Or if there's an disable feature in it's setup? Thanks!
Is there anyway to get those folks to work together? I figure if we could get that to work, work well and optimized then get that VM to work across the different Linux platforms that would solve the present and future problems for linux gaming. Man, if I could code I'd start now!
I was wondering if something like a set of API's that are common to all Linux platforms just for gaming might help? So that kernel changes and hardware differeces wouldn't matter so much to the game programmers. Maybe even a VM for gaming type deal? I'm no programmer, just a linux user:)
Gotta had it to them, whatever Whistler may work like, M$ does a great job making it look pretty. If Linux had a User Manager that looked anywhere near as good as Whistler's I'd be happy.
Funny thing I've looked at some of these sites and I've come to realize that these people are the first to complain how their freedom of speech has been violated but on the next page only support it only for themselves.
Awhile back someone on here had their.sig file say, "I will not support to the death your right to silence me".

The hardware would initially support MP3 and other compressed file formats, but a signal from the RIAA would activate the blocking trigger."
Okay this would be akin to downloading IE5.0 and at a signal from M$ having it disable Netscape. After you've already been using it. Somehow it looks like freedom of choice will take a flying leap out of a skyscrapper if this hits the market.DOJ would have a field day with this....
For such a new satelite, why such a slow rate of transmission?

Finally a journaling filesystem installed by default!! I can't wait to see how it performs as a release version!

My question is how did you set this up? What config files are needed to work together for secure VNC, and does ssh work on W2K? THx

I believe this is the saddest :~{
Thanks Doug, for all the wonderful stories, you will be missed....
Anyone know if it's in this release, isn't it a bit more than overdue?!

Hey, going to a journaling filesystem without having to reformat my partitions... oh you'd better believe I'd buy that! Good deal!
Yeah those were my exact words, damn sad to see the pioneers in the field go. :~(
